Why not make a weekend of it ! There are several hotels in the Beaconsfield area but the closest is probably the Holiday Inn at the High Wycombe exit |
Get up a head of steam and join us for a scenic tour to finish at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton near Aylesbury. The centre is a working steam museum with relics of the steam age spread across its 25 acre site. The centre boasts one of the largest private railway collections n the country with many steam locomotives from express passenger engines to simple shunters as well as interesting rolling stock, including a 1901 Royal Train coach and one used by Eisenhower and Churchill in 1944 for wartime planning meetings. There is also a miniature railway and on the weekend we will visit there will be a special "world in miniature" feature featuring mini traction engines and models. Several of the full size engines will be in steam during Sunday The start will be from 10am at the newly opened Services on the M40 at Beaconsfield HOW TO ENTER Price of entry to MGCC members is just £15 per car* to include magnetic rally plate, route book and a £2 per person discount off the entry to the Railway Centre.** In addition we'd invite you to make a minimum £5 donation to the MGF Register chosen charity for 2009, the Stoke Mandeville Spinal Foundation. This can be done in two ways :- 1) Donate online at www.justgiving.com/mgfregister which will enable the charity to gain extra support in Gift Aid or 2) Add your donation to the price of the run entry and we will pay that in to the charity for you.
