Re: Improving rear braking the simple way - edited
Figures can say all sorts of wonderful things, but as you have started out with the same pads I have, and I have replace almost everything on the brakes, I am more interested in your actual findings of how they feel, after all you have no reason to put up BS so I thank you for posting your findings ...

This was what I made out of "scrap" to aid undoing the drive shaft nuts, as my faithful helper was not always about when needed! http://i60.tinypic.com/jqtlid.jpg My gearbox mount had a lot of bits that were once metal that came out the drain holes so it was bathed in molasses for a few weeks and I ...

removed mine with ease with a bearing removal set off ebay, this uses large threaded rod and a selection of steel tube/caps.

Re: Hard to select any gear at first
Had a similar problem on a different car many years ago that turned out to be a build up of dust, bit of rust and general crap on the splines where the friction plate moves, if the car was started in gear when cold it was all good as once warm there were no problems.

If you blow this pic up, between the suspension spheres there is a "oval" white coloured bit with a yellow dot on that is what you are looking for.

Sure it's not off a push bike? the small hole is where a mudguard support might mount.

Re: Bleeding brakes!
Going to give that a go RR buying a vacuum bleeder and will jack the car too, it may be the smallest of things that can make a difference, does make me wonder why there was no bleed point on the ABS unit guess that was down to cost....

Re: Bleeding brakes!
I've seen a Honda where the guy used a link on the ecu plug was hoping there may be something similar just to see if any air is hiding in there may even try reverse filling.

Re: Bleeding brakes!
Robbo with hind sight I'd do the 2nd option, I pretty much emptied my system by circumstance more than planned and didn't worry as I've never had problems bleeding brakes before....until now ..so I started by filling and letting gravity do its thing...pedal hits the floor attached ezi bleed..not muc...

Re: Sheered Bolt. Rear subframe front mount bolt size?
As Far as I remember it's an 8mm thread but you only need a tap not a helicoil kit just make sure you drill centre of the bolt and work your way up in size if you are slightly off you will see part of the thread show and normally you can pick the remains of the bolt out without doing any damage, a l...

My 2 pence worth, http://i58.tinypic.com/1498aix.jpg I fitted a TF snorkel and made a bracket, the snorkel base is not very flat and not easy to seal I made spacers to go under the nuts/bolts so it compresses the seal but cannot be crushed and make it wavy and put a piece of alley along the back to ...

Re: Hydragas pump
I didn't use a fuel pump, old Riello burners used a hydraulic cylinder and I have used this along with two non return valves, my hose is now fuel injector hose with a las connector but have yet to find a better "can" with a screw on lid.

Re: Hydragas pump
Dont think its about being tight but more about rising to the challenge, with this it kind of depends on what you have for donor parts, my cylinder is off an old oil burner and because of what I do pipe and fittings are not so much of a problem. I do intend on making a MK2 version using the old clut...

Re: Polo expansion tank
Willyphixitt, if you have chance I would like a suitable circuit, I was going to use something like a hydrometer set up with the Arduino and to get around the DC problem was going to time it on and off.

Re: Polo expansion tank
the kit asks for the screws to be put into the header tank one above the other, assuming that when the water no longer touches the top screw the circuit is broken and a light comes on, with the bottom one still connected to ground via the water. If they are side by side as the level drops both + & -...

Re: Polo expansion tank
the probes in the polo tank are side by side, equal length and maybe 10mm apart, if one wire could be connected to both probes and if the water acts like a ground as someone suggested, the other wire connected to ground it might work. Might be worth giving them a call.
