Re: MGF - 2000 Wedgewood SE for sale...

Aha, beat the Firewall. 8 prev owners, 27/4/14 last change HPI clear and mileage all tallies. Hope that helps all concerned. Ian Yup, I bought it in April 2014 from a small car dealer just south of Aberdeen - it's always been off the road in a driveway, both up there and down here. I have had some ...

Good point, forgot all about those! 102,000 miles-ish, not much in the way of paperwork though. I do have the receipts for most of what I've done (battery etc)

Re: For Sale: MGF Mk2 Plasma dial kit

How easy is it to fit and get working. Please bear in mind 'plug and play' where I am involved means 'switch on and b*gger all works'! Thanks Dismantling the dash and centre console, stripping instruments, finding a 12v supply... Not that easy! I'll be happy to take this off your hands for £20 post...

For Sale: MGF Mk2 Plasma dial kit

I've removed the plasma dial kit I fitted to my MGF - just wasn't doing it for me! It's the full kit ( rev counter, speedo, temp gauge, fuel gauge and heater dials), just add 12 volts from the car.. If you search for it on eBay , it's the £58 one :) I'm in Surrey if you want to pick it up, or I can ...

Re: Failed MOT, now not starting!

Michael,

Mine was born off the line on Tuesday, 18th July 2000 @ 08:12:25, and was the 150th Wedgewood SE of the line, and the 63,553rd of 77,416 in total...

Re: Failed MOT, now not starting!

My 1999 Wedgie is MEMS1.9, single lamba sensor. gmb As is mine :) Well, the saga continues - today I checked the timing. Would appear the exhaust cam was a notch off since the head gasket change last year! I also fitted the new cat I bought last week (£42 from a certain place that does Parts for Ca...

Re: Failed MOT, now not starting!

The probe on the manifold (I only have the one) was actually damaged - the casing was coming away from the hex-head part of the fitting.

Went out this morning to have a wee bit of an investigation, first thing I did was give the fuel cut-off button a press, bloody thing fired up straight away...

Failed MOT, now not starting!

My Wedgewood failed the MOT test on Monday - emissions CO reading and Lambda values too high. Got the lambda sensor changed, after having to take the manifold out, but now the bugger won't start... Turns over fine, you can hear the fuel pump when you turn the ignition on, but no ignition. I must hav...

Re: Wedgewood SE or Trophy 160?

I can appreciate the Trophy has a bit more "poke", but like you I have a Wedgewood, and apart from the starting of some rust speckles round the side intakes, and some stonechips, it's in great condition, and I wouldn't dream of changing it for another MGF, even a Trophy! My partner loves it, the cat...

I had to change mine for the MOT - it's a bit of a bugger, but once you get the engine cover off, and the back of the car up on ramps/axle stands, it's a pretty straightforward job...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Changed the blown head gasket out on my Wedgewood this weekend - old gasket was the original elastomer type, which was changed for a MLS type. Fairly straightforward job - bit more access to the timing belt on an MGF than most FWD hatches! Job all buttoned up, new coolant in, and a good test drive. ...

Re: Stuck window

Take off the door trim, and (watch your fingers!) push the window up from inside while pushing the button. Then 2 options:- Second hand motor off eBay for ~40 pounds, or take a cheaper Rover 400 motor and strip it and swap the cog that's stripped over :) Some photos when I did mine: http://imgur.com...

Head gasket change - best parts?

Head gasket decided today was going to be the day it gave up the ghost - 2 minutes from work, hissing and spitting noises behind me, and a plume of steam in my wake! Green Flag home for me tonight:) ECP have gasket kits in stock in town, or are there any other alternatives, given I want to have it s...
