I had a similar problem on my 97 vvc. Turned out to be an intermittent fuel pump relay. The one that is in the multi relay unit behind the ecu in the engine bay. Managed to get the unit apart and found dry solder joints on the relay. Soldering fixed the problem.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Got Lily out for a quick run this afternoon, first chance for a drive since fitting the front splitter Lil_spoiler.jpg and changing the gearbox oil the other day Gearoil.jpg and fitting new gear cable ends today! Cables.jpg She feels pretty good, gearchange is more precise far less sloppy. Not sure ...

Mgf gear crank selector.
I'm replacing the gear cable ends at the gearbox end and I've managed to move the gear crank. There appears to be three horizontal and 3 vertical positions that the crank can be in. I want to make sure that the box is in neutral when I reconnect the cables. Does anybody happen to know which position...

Splitter arrived in the post last week. Looks like a Toyosports I think. I have a complete Toyo system fitted and am very pleased with it.

Re: Toyosport Back box (mgf) WARNING
I do think the toyos are a bit variable. I have a full system manifold, downpipe and backbox and am really pleased with it. One of the brackets on the back box needed a bit of persuading on fitting but they represent very good value for money. I think my complete system cost less than £250 via coupl...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Gave her a wash and finished off a couple of jobs. At last I've got a low coolant alarm that I'm happy with. It started out as a Lo Alarm 2 but I was never really happy with it. So it's slowly been changed to a replacement used expansion tank with a genuine sensor pre-fitted and an aircon recycle sw...

Re: slight little glitch thats worrying me.
I had a similar problem about a year ago on my mk1 vvc. Eventually she decided not to start at all. Turned out to be the multi function relay unit bolted behind the Ecu. Not sure if its in the same place on later cars. But dry joints on the soldering of the fuel pump relay inside the sealed unit cau...

Re: MOT tomorrow
I think if you have the beams aligned properly and you are not causing inconvenience or blinding other vehicles there's no reason to be pulled over. There's more chance of some of these cyclists who have hi powered flashing led front lights causing a problem than a decent set of Hids. Hopefully comm...

Re: MOT tomorrow
I fitted an ebay Chinese Xenon kit. It wasn't the cheapest available on there and has metal cased ballasts and appears really nice quality. It is 4300K / 35W. I went for the 4300K as that gives a white light rather than a higher temperature that often looks blue etc. Also because the lights are more...

Re: MOT tomorrow
I was a little hesitant about the HID's as there have been many debates on here and other forums about these types of kits retrofitted to "F's". Some saying they are an MOT failure etc. Personally I had the lights setup by a local garage after fitting good second hand reflectors and the HID kit myse...

Re: Reserve fuel
Ta for the info. It's not the guage it's the sender. It's not been right since investigating an intermittent fuel starvation problem. I fitted a replacement (used) fuel pump and sender during the investigations. Problem ended up being dry joints on the MFRU behind the ECU (dry joints on the relays)....

Re: It just seems so sad . . .
I'm sure that many will disagree with this, but the more that get scrapped then the rarer the F will become. The cars being scrapped are ensuring a steady and affordable stock of spare parts which in turn means the cars that are on the road will be better maintained and hopefully kept to a higher st...
