Re: TF Thermostat

Hi all. I finally changed the stat yesterday and bought some new coolant. What was interesting was the rubber seal in the stat was broken and was no longer sealing that well . I can't test the car as it's sorned, but went through all the bleeding and got her warm enough for the new stat to open.. al...

Re: TF Thermostat

thanks all. I did a headgasket about 10K ago, and 3 years.. I did try to flush the system at the time and there does seem to be rad flow .. The car always heated up quickly, both the gauge and the matrix.. but now neither heats up unless you are stationary. I bought a new thermostat anyway and will ...

TF Thermostat

hi all, the TF no longer gets warm on a drive, unless I put it under load or get stuck in traffic.. basically, 5-10 miles now before I get much heat inside, and before the gauge gets to 'normal' This is a partially stuck-open PRT thermostat I think? just had a look underneath after a couple of mins ...

Re: EPAS warning on, pwr steering fail :(

hi Julie, to be honest, removing the access cover and checking the plug on the gearbox is well within the capabilities of an indy garage.. a friendly local place should be able to get that far fairly quickly..

I would do it but too far unfortunately.

Re: TF Tyres

fitted yesterday, and drove around 30 miles.. the upshot is the car is now many times safer.. the rear no longer wants to swap places with the front.. the car now has mild understeer, becoming 4 wheel drift.. these are not characteristics I had with the old mixed tyres, where the car just felt sharp...

Re: New Proxes ! now wearing a nappy when driving

I realise different wheel size and car, but same issue with my TF in March, Barney.. car handled very well until the minute the rears were changed for Toyo's .. from then on its been quite scary.. may change my fronts to toyos and just live with that until all four have worn out.. looking forward to...

many thanks from us too Paul, was a good day out despite the rather sudden hailstorm at the end of lunch!

Re: How do I replace the rear subframe mounts?

the big bolts, I used a socket and (I think a short extension) and a 1/2 " bar to be able to hold them while undoing the easy to get to nyloc nuts.
or possibly I used a deep socket only.. either way you need a few cm but not too much.. you will see what i mean :)

Re: TF Tyres

when I got home after the fitting I went to this thread 'http://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20030' which is a can of worms :) but Slippy's experiences do tally with mine.. car has 16" wheels and the correct load index.. anyway.. I will probably fir new toyos to the front, try that and ...

Re: TF Tyres

Re: How do I replace the rear subframe mounts?

Jim my fronts are looking suspect too.. I take note of the difficulty with the plusgas application the rears.. I did one last month and the other last year, they seemed straightforward.. I could remove the smaller bolts ok (with care and prayer) and the large bolt was removable without much fuss.. (...
