Re: Hellish nightmare problem - floppy gear stick - MGF -
I'm guessing its one of the gear cables either snapped or detached. Bit of a pain to fit. MGR garages charge about 2.5 hrs labour. Mike Satur stocks them.

As far as I'm aware, the Mini didn't have a dipstick in their cvt box but used the "fill till it pours out method"

I too went down the road of seeking out a chap in Stockport..... Kevin ( mgfhydragas@gmail.com ) and can confirm his regassed spheres are great. He seems to know what he is doing. Is a very approachable fellow . Only time will tell as to the longevity of the regassing.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
This weekend so far; Replaced lambda sensor and subsequently a couple of exhaust gaskets. Fitted stainless underfloor coolant pipes. Fitted a set of refurbed displacers (Thanks goes to Kevin mgfhydragas@gmail.com for the work he did refurbing my displacers ) Polybush kit fitted on rear suspension Gr...

Re: Steptronic sensors
I have a mk 1 VVC running MEMS 2.0J. I swapped the exhaust manifold and down pipe from a 4 stud to a stainless steel 6 stud. I swapped the lambda probe across to the new set up but it wasn't giving a decent signal. I bought a generic one from ECP which turned out to be for MEMS 3. I made a patch le...

Re: Steptronic sensors
Update Well after fighting with the old o2 sensor I finally removed it. I had a "MEMS3" sensor and as Bob mentioned above made a short adapter cable so it would connect to my wiring loom, ( it looked good and rather professional complete with heat shrink). Could I get it to screw into the manifold c...

Thanks for the link.
I'm going to go for a single mems3 lambda sensor and the "black" coolant temp sensor and see how I get on.

Re: Steptronic sensors
Thanks Rob. That's how I read Mykels comment. It has no second Lambda but what I should be using is just one of the later sensors.(which contradicts the info from Rimmers) I just now need to find out which Temp sensor to use. As far as I am aware they have the same thread pattern also the same conne...

Steptronic sensors
A bit of help from the steptronic gurus would be greatly appreciated.
I have a March 2000 steptronic VIN 518336
Should it have 1 post vin522573 lambda sensor.
Which Temp sensor should it have?
Part numbers would be a great help.
Thanks

Re: Alarm issues on 2001 MGF
The only two common things was it was quite windy, do these MGF's have an external motion sensor to set off alarm? As far as I know there is an air pressure sensor for the interior which can be triggered In windy conditions when using soft top. If you just lock the door with the key and not the fob...
