Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Washed it and gave it a polish and went for a blast- Haven't needed to do any thing to it for months now :D which is just as well as I've had a poorly Scimitar to sort out and have just taken on a 1963 Rover P6 restoration project......

Re: Soda blasting

Ideally, yes! As it does make a bit of a mess, but it's not that bad. I just knocked up a wooden frame with tarp and that did the job

Re: Soda blasting

I used a Clark all in one unit which I bought from Amazon for £30. It's basically a large bucket of which you pour in the soda (£25) and a long pipe and a gun.
Pretty basic set up up it works well enough.

Re: Soda blasting

I used a non soluble version of soda- a lot cheaper but you have to keep it clear of internals etc. Does it work? Oh yes. Brilliant on aluminium and light rust- if you want to blitz heavy rust you will need a more corse media. One draw back tho is that it makes a mess and you will need a manly compr...

Re: Soda blasting

Ha! I've ordered a 25kg bag of 00.25mm-02mm grade stuff made from recycled glass. Only down side is that I can't use it on carbs etc. (I'm working on my 2.8 Cologne at the mo- as my F is and has been running perfectly the last few months! - bound to go wrong now I've said that) Cost £25. I'm still g...

Heater control coil fix

I've lost the number 1 and 2 heater speeds on my '98 and have just ordered some replacement coils to solder in.

On the originals there is a white coating on them, anyone know what it is?

Thanks

Scuttle clips- easy fix

Hi all After having to replace my wiper motor and clean up my wiper assembly, I realised that all the scuttle clips had broken and were doing nothing apart from allowing water in past the scuttle. After trying unsuccessfully to get some replacements, I came across a solution. Wall plugs! Using a lar...

Re: 98' air filter and 52mm upgrade

It all fitted in quit nicely in the end-
And I'm really pleased with the extra performance- it's a lot quicker off the mark and tick over is also better- much smoother.

Re: 98' air filter and 52mm upgrade

Got the resonator box out last night- and trial fitted the new box- can't see how I'm going to get both pipes to the left hand inlet though- not enough space funily enough.

Re: 98' air filter and 52mm upgrade

Hi Rob
The resonance box is there, but will bypass that- if the Trophy box fits with it still in place- which I think could be unluckily....
Ordered some decent ducting from Demon Tweeks and am looking to feed both outlets to the left hand air intake.

Thanks- That's easy enough!

Fitting a Trophy air filter box

Hi all

I've just bought a Trophy twin induction air filter box for my '98 mpi.
I've read into what a pig of a job it is to get the old box out- but can't find anything on what sort of a job it is getting the Trophy unit in.
Can anyone out there advise?

Cheers

Re: 98' air filter and 52mm upgrade

Thanks all- I've looked into it and I am sticking with the trophies twin induction set up I've just bought- which came also with the bracket.
Seen what a pain of a job it is to get the old box out- but what about getting the trophy unit in?

98' air filter and 52mm upgrade

Hi all I'm fitting a Trophy duel intake to replace the standard air filter set up in my F- and I'm fitting a 52mm throttle body also. Further down the road I'll be fitting 135 cams and a sports exhaust- not sure when I will get round to that tho! At this stage, what would be the advantage of say a K...

F or TF wiper motor and other bits wanted

Hi All

I'm after a wiper motor for an F or TF- doesn't matter as the previous owner chopped the wiring and it's now fitted with bullet connectors.

Also after a 52' throttle body and TF airfilter caseing and brackets too if anyone has one kicking about.

Cheers
