Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Haha could always drill your hubs as I have done? I might sell them and buy a couple of spare orange ones. A metro style droop stop wouldnt work as the back of the knuckle seat is miles away from anything, the only mounting surface near it being the floor which would bend or maybe a bracket off the ...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
280mm discs fit under the Cades wheels perfectly, dont even need spacers. Longer studs fitted as well. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/dY4PqMdjUrF7ycVPvCyIWjm21qRqd-rf8FKLxVzkncP9NCizh26R4DUqr00U0rr_jG47eAepzCbi6yCKv5NtHSZrcrRE-l6fcbGqRE28KEZr1xuvn8bxbcSnvL6jO3aUvwwDbAjiOZXzbSGaCT770WTVo8iIFVe1XQ_...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Next session booked for the 1st July :) 2000lb springs fitted, seems much improved. Longer front studs to be fitted to the front hubs as I've got hold of some 15s which will require 5mm spacers, hopefully I'll be able to try 280mm front brakes too. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/iwOBvWnPE8-TyHp9w...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Yes
I need bigger front brakes and stiffer rear suspension.
Ordered 2000lb rear springs, will need some holder trimming.
I want to keep the 14s so looking at r200 262mm discs. If i went to 280mm ans 15s though id get a bit more than 58mph in 2nd gear hmm

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
All bled ok, had to drop the caliper off to bleed with them being mounted inverted. Cut some wooden blocks to fit in the calipers but luckily they wind back a bit anyway with them being handbrake ones. Now to road test and the mot is due. Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
So I've not done a huge amount recently, mainly due to doing a lot of fixing my new Jag daily beater. The rear hubs do now look like this though. Shiny new GM bearings and hub nuts done to 175nm rather than 5nm and a split pin that the Allegro uses. Break lines are done, had to be braided due to the...

Fuel filler fixed, happy with the result. Had to get it from the usa as I couldn't find the right bolt pattern anywhere else.

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Some pictures from the NEC this weekend :) The Allegro club stand was in a good position this year, I also managed to get a sit in a GT40, orange wheels for the win! Harris Mann signed one of the cars when he visited the stand too. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4857/43970127480_9ca8a94f63_b.jpg htt...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Anything is weldable with the correct wire
Plan A is to make them bolt on anyway. I've been looking at the rover 100 setup but they have separate hubs to the drums.
Allegros have drums with built in hubs and separate bearing races so quite different

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
Possibly, removing them might be fun. They are an interference fit with a circlip in the back to retain them. The corsa stub axles simply bolt onto a flat surface on the end of the vaxuall beam. The Allegro beam has the hole where the stub axle lives plus a raised part which holds the rear section o...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!
The Allegro has a rear beam but the suspension is horizontal like a metro, so no shock towers. I'm planning on mounting Corsa sri rear stub axles inc hubs to the Allegro trailing arms :) The Corsa package is the correct overall width and pcd, comes with modern wheel bearings and caliper mounts all o...
