Re: MGF Alternator problem
Strange. I looked at the alternator again today ready to check connections etc. Before I disconnected the battery I started the engine again, no battery light! So checked the voltage at the battery and it was 13.8vdc. Checked at the alternator positive terminal and the same. So the alternator is cha...

Re: Giving Suplex a try
If anyone does have questions about Suplex, whether on a car already fitted or contemplating the Suplex conversion, feel free to PM me or post questions on the forum. I bought the car with Suplex already fitted but with one wheel riding lower than the others, hence one side of the car riding about 1...

Re: MGF in Brunei - Introduction
Yes, I use the tag DaveInBorneo because a lot of people don't have a clue where Brunei is. Borneo is a huge island, Brunei is a tiny country, a sultanate with rich reserves of oil. Hence petrol here is still only 50c per litre and diesel even cheaper.

Re: Giving Suplex a try
I found the problem this morning. Checked the Suplex adjuster myself and found RHF wheel on lowest adjustment. That is wound in to the cannister. When I tried to wind out the adjuster I realised that the outer ring that's flush with the canister body was also turning, so no adjustment possible on ri...

Re: Suplex can't get recommended height
I've discovered the problem this morning. On one front cannister the ring surrounding the adjuster is just turning around and no adjustment is possible. The other one is fine. Nice of the mechanic to inform me about this isn't it? The old story, if you want the job done properly..... DIY I've emaile...

Re: Giving Suplex a try
Unfortunately I live in Brunei and have one of the few MGF's he still on the road. The Suplex is OK, I have never driven on the original suspension system so nothing to compare. The immediate problem though is getting correct ride height. I have read the very long thread on the T Bar and a few other...

Re: Giving Suplex a try
I don't understand this. Suplex is based in the UK, surely lots of MG owners have needed to fit the kits.adrianclifford wrote:Hi Brad, Suplex is new to us. I don't actually know anybody in the UK that has a set, I only know one guy and he's in Australia !

No worries Adrian. What details would you like? I'm still trying to work out how to post a photo to the forum.

MGF in Borneo
I'm one of a very few MGF owners in Borneo. Since buying my MGF from a mate last year, I've spotted only one other MGF in Brunei. Also one V8 MG, I'm not sure of the model. I'm sure the Sultan has a few MG's in his palace underground garage. My car is a pretty good example, previously owned by a Can...

MGF in Brunei - Introduction
Hi, I bought my first MG last year. A 1996 MGF in BRG.
I'm an expat in Brunei. Very few MG's in this country. I've only seen one other MGF on the road.
Look forward to learning more about the car and some tips from other owners.

Re: Suplex can't get recommended height
Mykel : I have measured the length of the shackle pins and they are the original 90mm, not the lowering pins. The Suplex units for those unfamiliar with them are springs in a can that fit where the old gas suspension used to be. I would suspect the springs are worn and that's why I've lost height ad...

Suplex can't get recommended height
My 1996 MGF has Suplex kit fitted. The ride height all round is 330mm and I'd like to get it to 353mm as recommended by Suplex. I've added extra spacers but make no difference. At maximum adjustment of the canisters its only 330mm. I've installed new ball joints, tie rod ends but no change. The mech...
