Re: Timing belt change intervals plus what else

I used Lynchford Service Centre in Fleet when I had mine changed 4 years ago, reasonable price (about £250 for belt, tensioner coolant and waterpump) and ex-MG Rover dealership also had a number of MGTFs in the workshop for the same job. You could also try MOTest in Farnham again they have the tools...

Re: Electric Window Motor Removal

I replaced mine some years ago, I don't remember it being problematic. I think nothing other than the door card needs to come off, I'm sure I followed a "How to", have you tried Googling it?

I had something similar, it was the alternator. Switched it out never had the problem again.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

External Door Handle not working turned out to be a loose screw that connects the lever to the handle and control rod, now serviceable. While I had the door card off got the speaker working again - broken cable - never seen one go brittle before must be a harsh environment in the door

Yes, I've used it and is quite effective but has a relatively short life is subject to movement but you get a lot on a roll.

Re: Mud Flaps?? Any Point??

I fitted them because I like the look, however in my experience hey scrape over speed humps unless you stop and proceed ever so slowly and the front ones seem to accumulate crud behind them therefore in my view annual removal and clean out is essential. On the list for May.

Re: Very wet carpet, tips for leak finding and removal

If your car has air conditioning the cause may be a blocked drain pipe from the evaporator, I had that problem and it really soaked the carpets and I got to it quickly.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Replaced front top ball joint - relatively easy; replaced front lower ball joint - do not fancy getting the rivets out on the other side as the first side was back breaking - still now done and the hub has had 3 coats of Hammerite.

Re: Big Bill - What to do?

My 2005 MG spent most of its life in the North East, when I bought it 4 years ago there was an advisory on minor corrosion on the sub-frames and there was a number of paint chips that had corroded in all of the usual places. I got the trader to deal with the paint chips before I picked it up and use...

Boot Popper

Has anyone successfully fitted a boot popper to a 2005 TF?

I'm having trouble getting the popper to release the boot latch, electrics are fine but the solenoid will not move the latch. There seems to be some suggestion that it is only possible with the key in the boot lock?

Re: Garage unable to find electrical fault

I have had the alternator go on my 2005 TF and the ignition switch as referred to in the previous post and the symptoms are similar. With the ignition switch it later developed additional symptoms e.g. on trying to start it would only show half of the warning lights and not start. Eventually after m...

Easy enough to get the Mk1 Roll Hoops off at service time - just two bolts.

I have a set of genuine XPower Mk1 Roll Hoops for sale in mint condition

Re: Rear Sub Frame

I had the same advisory a couple of years ago. I had a good look and it was surface corrosion, no holes or anything looking like it was on its way out. Cleaned it up, wire brushed it and put on two coats of Hammerite. Not had an advisory since and did get a pleasant reaction from the tyre fitter whe...
