Re: Your experience
Our MGF is in the family for about 25 years, followed by a TF some decade ago. The F is an early car, a bit sensitive to servicing and well care. We use this one only for foreign trips and leasure as the car has been modified over the years. Performance wise: modified air filter, 52 mm TB, Trophy he...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Finally I did a repair that could have been done over a decade or so back: I fitted a new cowl. By saying that I realize now it is a much more east job to do as inthepast. The replacemant cowl fitted very well without removint the whole of the dash. But unfortunately, weight of the replacement part ...

Re: Imported a classic car
On the continent there are plenty of early MGF’s for sale, but numbers are getting lower by the year. Simply due to the fact that not all are in the hands of MG lovers. State of the cars can vary from prestine (valuations up to about 10-11k Euro for a ‘96 vvc), to ready for the breakers. A high pric...

Why not sell all sensible cars, and keep the MG(s)?
Been there, done that, no regrets.

Re: Erratic Idle RPM
Vvc solenoids, as I have an early vvc f, this is an issue not too many people came across. All technicians start to look at the common and known things first, replace all kind of things without cure so it ook us about 3 months to find out. Our well known, TF experienced and capable mechanics hadn’t ...
Re: StepSpeed
One advice: aside all of the actions you plan to take, replace the CVT oil filter and oil. This is a more sensitive part of your car as all other parts apart from the cam belt.

Re: Erratic Idle RPM
Hi Airbusguy, to be honest, this issue is far from common on F’s and TF’s. Erattic idle is not unknown to these cars, but only a small part of them are vvc’s. I had the same problem teasing me for a prolonged period. Only when visiting MGFIM Sweden in 2022, it became a very hard car to drive, with n...

Re: Battery isolator
Using a similar system for years now, initially on both my F and TF, where I ise a key in my C. Yes it works well on all models including Pektron controlled. BUT. Be aware the isolator wears and after a couple of years it is not working fine anymore. It kept my F’s and TF’s batteries well over perio...

Re: Brake random soft pedal
Another pertinent fact is I'm not a heavy breaker under normal circumstances. I prefer anticipation and balance. Whilst the old/wet fluid is a seductive theory I'd be surpised if the brakes were that hot, though I was coming down a hill when it started. For social acception the preferred driving st...

Re: WANTED - MGF Trophy 160
Enjoy! As you are someone with MG history you should be aware of the need to have the car propperly serviced. For those who don’t believe these cars are expensive in our country: https://www.gallery-aaldering.com/mg-mgf-trophy-160-price-reduction-2010/ Ok, it has been put on the road in 2010, and di...

Even in our, smal, country. I think it easy to summerise up to a number that is facors higher. It must be a student reporter born after 2010 who writes that sort on nonsence down.

Re: Very strange issue, am I the only one?
My ‘96 vvc ran quite well while driving but when stopping in traffic the revs dropped untill the engine died OR ran at a high rate 1,5 - 2k revs per minute. It took a while to trace the issue as all thought about the obvious issues like faulty sensors, broken wires, unset vvc mechanism. In the end w...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
The radiator had to go a long, long time ago, out of the F. exchanged for a Alu one. Now Ghost has earned a season of recuperating after tours to Lake Constance, Black Forrest, Ardennen Meeting in Luxemburg, the Dutch Octagon tour and a meeting in the Peak district and in Kent. Now the TF is back on...

Guess that comes with a reason, anti corrosion wise or some damage. Anyway a good moment to get a new colour on your subframe, I suggest a vibrant tint, like Orange

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
As our trips are getting further and further away, I decided to install at Mrs Kaspers request to have a cruise control installed as she has issues, stretching her leg for long periods. Just in time as supply of the CC’s is running out. All new cars have it as standard so there is hardly any demand ...

Re: For sale: two MGF boot lids, one TF boot lid
Is a TF boot lid lot a tat less in weight comaired to the F’s? In that case you’d better swap it and have it on project Shed.
You know, engine cooling should be better, the reason why we use the TF lid on our F’s

Re: Anyone have a picture of the Mk1 MGF B-pillar trim?
And do you really use the tonneau in an Mk1 F? I must admit, it is the best cover keeping a careful eye on the hinges and engine cover. Look at a Mk2 or TF and notice the elevation of the lid.
