Pleased to be back in harness
I have just obtained a rather nice grey 2003 MGTF. Not had the chance to drive far yet but it seems more comfortable than my MGF - which, to be fair, had knackered suspension. With 135bhp it's obviously a bit pokier than the 118 F but, more importantly, it has excellent torque for the sort of B road...

Dim dipped headlights
1998 MGF. The dipped beam output is pathetic although the main beam is OK, if not exactly stunning. I have mobility issues in both hands which make investigating the issue difficult. I thought I should just try some new bulbs but there seems to be some doubt as to which type of bulb I should fit. Eu...
I'm back!
3 years MG-less was long enough. I flirted with a Mazda MX-5, which was a very good drive but rather prone to rust, plus the local club members were into modifications and drifting, which are not my things. I am taking a chance on buying a 1998 MGF in Amaranth from a dealer some distance away withou...

Radio fuse, where are you?
The radio and clock stopped working at the same time. Aha, I thought, that's a blown fuse. Well, I found a fusebox under the bonnet but none of the fuses seem to be the right one. The forum suggests that there is another fusebox somewhere in the car but I can't find the blasted thing. Help please be...

That age/memory thing
An old school friend married late in life and has quite a young family.
His son and daughter regularly make fun of his memory issues but as he says:
"They won't be laughing when they wake on Christmas morning to find there's no eggs under the bonfire".

MGF VVC tyre pressures
I know this must have been asked many times but looking on the internet has given me several different answers.
Tyres are 215/40R16 front and rear.
I am currently using 28F/32R (PSI)
My driving style is brisk but (mostly) legal and I prefer to use country roads when I can.

Re: Got one!
She was delivered last night and is even better - at first impression - than I expected.
The hood and rear window are about 6 months old and fit perfectly. Don't think I have ever seen an F/TF with a completely clear rear plastic screen before.
And the sun's out this morning. Wheeeeee!!!!!

Re: K-Seal ultimate head gasket repair
My 'mid engine car from another British firm" also enjoyed some beans. It was always much happier after a run at 100 mph. I was informed there was a frequency oscillation that comes from the driveshaft at that speed that resets the Zen of the vehicle. That was pretty much the excuse I gave the poli...

Somehow thought it looked too good to be true @ £29 a bottle.

Re: Got one!
Fantastic mate.. I'm itching to buy one here, but not seen one that takes me fancy and not at that money you've just paid.. Nice one pal I went to see another one a while back and was very disappointed. Looked like being a money pit thanks to rust but also someone had managed to shoehorn 15" tyres ...
Re: Got one!
Only MoT'd to October but only a couple of advisories on last MoT. Have seen photos of all sides and interior and all looks OK
I'm paying £470 and, to be honest, if it needs a bit more spent that wouldn't be unreasonable.

Re: 1.6?
My daily driver is an Alfa Romeo 156 estate so I'm used to not having remote central locking or remote boot opening - my key fob has the buttons for both but basically they don't work. Also, mine is the 1.8 Twin Spark which needs to be revved - very much a contrast with the 2.0TS which is quite torq...

1.6?
Following my failure to buy a 1.8VVC - probably for the best as I suspect it could have turned out to be a money pit, a 1.6 has come up for sale locally at a reasonable price, i.e. one I can just about afford. However, I previously had a standard 1.8 which I felt could have used a bit more oomph so ...

Re: Hopefully returning
Well, it did have more rust that I was expecting but it had a hardtop in near-perfect condition. Slightly worrying that all the literature suggests 16" wheels all round; it had the correct 5-spoke alloys but with 15" tyres on the front - good ones - while the correct size rears were well worn. Howev...

Hopefully returning
Having had to let my 1996 MGF "Lady Jane" go a few years back, I have been indulging in my other automotive passion - Alfa Romeo. However, my road-going but trackday oriented Spider just went bang in a very big way - hole in engine block large enough to insert finger - so I'm looking for another con...
