MGF Parts for sale inc Private Reg

Hi everyone, I've found a ZR I want to buy and want to try sell a few parts I have kicking around to get some of the cash together I've got a set of the MK2 Alloys in Silver; one has a serious scratch on, the rest are fine (pictures to follow). The tyres are definitely no good on the fronts and the ...

Re: Hydragas Knuckle replacement

I'll measure the old one I.e one on the left shortly but I believe the picture may be a little deceiving as the base of the pin is protruding from the bottom of the broken one - this would usually be pushed further up by the fulcrum hence why it looks shorter Ah yes they were much more expensive tho...

Hydragas Knuckle replacement

Hello, not a question or the like more just a bit of useful owner info for the future I went to do the knuckle joint on my F the other week, got it all depressurised and whatnot and removed the old knuckle. I then tried putting he new one in and thought my god something is wrong here there's nowhere...

Re: MGF ride quality

Tyre places often have Nitrogen as it can be used in tyres instead of air. But not at the required pressures... I've been mulling that over and thought it's probably worth asking what they can pump to if they can pump to 10bar then that's probably more pressure than they had before the mod so would...

Re: MGF ride quality

I think Charles you are missing the point of mikes solution, in theory at least, the spheres do not need to be removed that's where the majority of the savings are in the labour front. As I say I haven't ordered it yet but the theory is it can all be done in situ! I can't imagine it taking a compete...

Re: MGF ride quality

I really need to get mine sorted and this appears to be a cheaper option than the other place that does them all for £380. Not sure I could fit them myself so I'll be interested on how you get on if you do manage to fit them. I may just buy them anyway :thumbsu: If you have a honest local mechanic ...

Re: MGF ride quality

I very much doubt it I spoke to him about these a few weeks back and I can't imagine he wouldn't be using them if they weren't fit for purpose. I just didn't know if he had explained it to anyone during conversation and took a quick look online that confirmed the valves should cope easily Personally...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Primed my exhaust tips ready for the nice shiny purple paint. I just used a high zinc content primer good for up to 300c, less than a tenner from the bay of E's. Just got to do a few more coats to remove the pitting then sand it all back flat ready for the actual colour However I think mikes new nip...

Re: MGF ride quality

But I do sand by my comment that the valve needs to be rated for the maximum working pressure of the sphere. Does anyone know anything further to this? I am planning to buy a set but acknowledge that 500psi is the max pressure and the system can get up to 800 but then I've seen people saying they'v...

Re: WTB: MGZR TD

Don't rule out a diesel ZT I ran a diesel ZS for best part of 10 years before jumping to a diesel ZT It's so much more refined, nearly as economical I get high 40's+ on the motorway The much bigger boot is also very handy :) I certainly won't that's great info to have and I am considering the ZS/ZT...

Re: WTB: MGZR TD

Resistor pack is an easy fix with multiple places to get the resistors :) I've had a 75 CDT Tourer and a ZTT CDTi before now, I found them to be really really expensive when things go wrong and both had worse fuel economy than my ZS180... Mind you that is the heavy Estate versions :thumbsu: If you ...

Re: WTB: MGZR TD

Thanks for all of the responses! I've been really busy of late so have been reading posts but not replying so I'll try cover it all here; ZSx - thank you for your comprehensive explanation, and you are of course right about the premium they command; a 1.4 ZR seems to be much easier to pick up at bar...

WTB: MGZR TD

Hello all, I need to get something more practical, without parting with my 'F' Ive seen a few ZRs going for under £250 near me which seems very promising but all seem to be petrol, I want a TD as I do a lot of driving to Scotland and Cornwall from Gloucestershire so the better MPG would certainly be...

Re: MGF Mod Plans and Prices

So the alloy Manifold went in, fitted by myself and this fixed the leaky gasket, to be honest it looked like the mating face could have just been cleaned and the plastic one refitted but I like the alloy one so oh well! However fixing this leak exposed that the water pump was weak and well it starte...

Re: Yellow Warning Light stays on

Could be a multitude of things you need to get someone with a code reader to take a look really It can vary wildly as to what the light means so I wouldn't care to guess as to why - mine comes on occasionally due to my cat being broken to give you an example of one fault that will cause the light to...

Unfortunately I probably won't make it to that event however I am planning to go to the castle Coombe stoke association day as well as perhaps to GWSR event in September on the Oxfordshire MGOC event listing! Although the prospect of some very high class cars may sway my decision!
