I see its back up for sale (at nearly triple the price ) and without the TT exhaust although with some tacky body stickers wont be buying it back although i have missed it and now looking around for a TF

I think its just fatigue i was not pushing the car noticed the temp rising as it usually never rides above just below halfway stopped and the coolant had dropped ,i let it cool and topped up got it home ok, left it overnight and found it had drained completely no sign of water from under the car it ...

Try PTFE tape around the thread it will pack out the end of the thread and maintain the seal (any plumbers merchant)

M6 thread, £3.25 for ten on flea bay, 2 on a TF, 4 on a F. bit fiddly without disconnecting the damper but if you use a stiff piece of tube and cut a notch out for the angle bit of the nipple to pop out easy peasy to fit without disconnecting anything (the nipple thread is inline behind the damper s...

Replaced all 4 grease nipples with right angled ones so much easier to pump grease in now all winter jobs now complete including belts & water pump service

very true but after watching flipping bangers and all the common faults on a TT i don't think our cars are any more awkward to work on than more modern kit.

left the pillar in place & removed the spring as advised all back together now ,all belts,tensioner & water pump fitted plus new p/plugs for good measure along with its annual spring service, started first time, just need to heal the skinned knuckles from the crankshaft nut & tensioner bolt

Hi all, Just replacing the belts/tensioner & water pump, doing it myself this time and just need to confirm the spring & pillar bolt is removed once i have set up the tension, the workshop manual is not the easiest to follow and the last cambelt i replaced myself was on a mk3 Cortina

check the engine access grill pegs are located in their holes, i found on my trophy two were not located all the way in and this was enough to stop the boot from closing flush,as soon as i bent the pegs to fit, the boot closed in line with the wing.

Took spheres off of car yesterday,usual seized bolts, skinned knuckles and bad language. didn't have to disconnect the brake servo as i could get to the pipe flare nut from under the wheel arch, worse part was the air filter housing removal, had to stand on a box as the car is on stands at the momen...
