Thanks for the input today, I managed to get the unit out today without any major problems it turns out the unit fitted is a Bosch as per Geoff.f's post above. I have had to order a replacement from Euro car parts as I am trying to sell the car and need it to be running so could not wait for a unit ...

My alternator has just spat its dummy had to call out the AA out to get home, question is which type do I have looked on euro car parts site and they list 3 the car is a 51 plate 1.8 vvc mgf

Thanks all for the info, I think it's the dishwasher tablet trick to start with then see how I get on with a flush or 3. I just want to make sure the system is clear after spending nearly as much as the car cost last year.

Just had a load of work done on the f, had just planed to have the head gasket and belts replaced but when the head came off it was found that the liners needed shims and the head needed to be replaced in the course of this it was obvious that someone had used k seal at some point. Coil spring conversion
Hi all
Thinking about changing the F over to coil springs and have been looking at the ones from rimmers has anyone used them or got any info on them or any other system that is on the market

I had the EPAS fault in that the steering wheel would move to the left on start up, following the guide I found from a link on here I fixed it but the car still pulled to the left took it to get the tracking sorted the front was fine and the rears were out had it all adjusted and the car now tracks ...

I did mine through the top, just used an ezi bleed and pumped until I had clean fluid both in the master cylinder and clean coming out of the slave

binnacle replacment
having just got my hands on a replacement binnacle with 3 intact lugs on it am I correct in thinking I have to take the whole dash out to replace it? if so what can I do about the mg radio as I don't have the code for it which I will need when I we fit it

Thanks to the links on this web site I have reset the power steering as the steering wheel always kicked to the left on start up, tomorrow its off to get the tracking sorted as I am sure someone has played with it in an attempt to sort the pull to the left

Well just had the ride height corrected, what a different car I now don't need to use poly grip any more it is so smooth. It only cost £48 so I can now look forward to getting the rest of it sorted

Having only just picked up the f oil and filters changed, rear discs and pads replaced with the aid of a good deal of heat and a lump hammer and brake fluid replaced, still not happy with the performance of the brakes so I think the front discs and pads will have to be replaced in the next week or so.

Thanks for the price info now found someone who will do it for £48 so with luck I will have a better ride and I can get the tracking sorted as it pulls to the left, little point doing the tracking until I have the correct ride hight

Hi just picked up a 51 plate 1.8 in green. I have a few jobs to do the first is a suspension regas as I think it a bit low and the ride is a little hard, but it's got the makings of a good little car. Based in st Anne's lancs
