Re: Erratic Idle RPM
markvrs, I'm not sure which plugs you're referring to. With reference to my photo, it shows a blue plug, and to its left as viewed, a brown plug connected at right angles into what I think is the "hydraulic control unit" ? Blue and black plugs are the ones you need to remove and see if that would r...

Re: Erratic Idle RPM
Roverlike, I think I can answer my own question, having just seen Dieter’s mgfcar.de site. My VIN is 522563, which apparently means the car is MEMS 2. I’m not sure if it’s a 2J, or whether they are all 2J s ? If not, is the ‘J’ significant? If you have MGF VVC engine and since it is not MEMS 3, the...

Try to discconect solenoids from VVC HCU unit and see if that cures the problem. If it does then replace both solenoids and that is it.

Re: Emissions test/closed loop/ RoverMEMS diagnostic software
Maybe I was not clear enough. I suggested you to disconnect solenoids in relation to your high volatage and RPMs errors. Faulty solenoids can cause this kind of errors on MEMS2J VVC engines. Disconnect solenoids and try the test you are doing and see if high voltage and RPM errors will be present. I...

Re: Emissions test/closed loop/ RoverMEMS diagnostic software
Have you tried to disconnect plugs from two (2) Solenoid Control Valves and make measures without them connected? In case you have measurements orrect now, then you just need to change both solenoid control valves. Disconnecting plugs from them will limit rpms to 5000, but that is just to test how e...

Re: Lucas Remote Key Fob
Earlier cars used 3TXA fob Later cars used 3TXB, 3TXC or 17tN (aka 3TXD) fob. No difference among 3TXB, C and D (17TN) in disabling auto-immobiliser function. However you cannot use 3TXA on later cars. You can use 3TXB, C or D (17TN) on earlier cars. However once you used one of these later fobs on ...

Have you checked all connections to starter motor are intact? To me this sound like starter motor terminals are not connected as it should be.

Looks like you disturbed lock/unlock microswitches within your drivers door lock. Also seems like door lock is slightly jammed, maybe corrosion wise.

Re: Bleeping reversing sensors! Advice on a suitable w/shop manual
Reversing sensors were mostly done as dealer fit, and the usualy would not be mentioned in any wiring diagram as they were not mounted as factory fit. What you have is 4 sensors within rear bumper, connected to separate electronic box most probably placed in the boot of the car, covered by carpet in...
