Re: MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
So I have bought a brand new plastic inlet manifold. I've done this as I like to do the job once in case my old manifold is warped around the gasket which is why I'm getting my problems. So now do I replace my black injectors with the higher flow rate blue ones. I found this information This is for ...

Re: MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
Valve Springs probably are stronger due to the extra lift. But reading your post I wasn't suggesting any of those things I can only assume you didn't read through all my posts correctly. I was looking to fit an alloy inlet manifold to my 120 engine but due to the size difference the fact that the po...

Re: MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
Typo in the above, the Lotus Elise guys swear that using their cars with plastic manifolds they get round there track quicker. I would imagine that this step that you would get between the alloy manifold and inlet face would hamper torque if used on the 120 engine and bearing in mind that my engine/...

Re: MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
Right scrub above I'm not going to replace my plastic manifold to an alloy one due to the step between the manifold and the head, air turbulence etc hampering performance I've also read that these guys using plastic manifolds swear they get round the track quicker. Apparently from what I've read the...

Re: MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
Although my car is mems 3 it's one of the first released with mems 3 being steptronic therefore the inlet air temperature (green) sensor on air intake pipe cylinder 4 is wired up and not just a dummy/blank as fitted to later models. Also is there anything else I need to know about? I have heard that...

MGF inlet manifold swap to alloy from 135
HI again all. I'm looking to replace my plastic inlet manifold with an alloy inlet manifold I've got hold off from a 135 model MG TF. The only problem that I have come across is that the alloy manifold has a combined map and air temperature sensor where as the plastic manifold has two separate senso...

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
The Lambada sensor is original to the car and so 20 years old with 48000 miles on it so it could do with changing

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
Yes I've already decided to replace the manifold downpipe together I already have a Lambada sensor. I will then take the car for an emissions test and go from there

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
As the Lambada sensor is the only sensor I haven't changed on the car this is going to be changed first along with a new manifold. Which brings me to my next question eBay list stainless steel copies of the original manifold for around £150 but there are two options a full bolt and a 6 Bolt just the...

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
Why can't I use the duel iat-map sensor on the alloy manifold. I would obviously replace it with a brand new item and like you say it's a combined sensor therefore why can't I take the wiring from the original iat sensor and wire into the dual iat - map sensor?

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
Hi Rob the problem is although the CO and HO are fine on the emissions report the Lambada sensor is reading high, higher than it was last year and the previous year before that over the years its progressively given a higher Reading. The MOT tester seem to think there's excessive air in the system w...

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
yes I think I may try them. I do not know the history of these blue fuel injectors that came with the manifold mileage etc. What's the best way to check operational condition and how do I clean them I've seen these spray cans that you can fix to them how good are they? or am I better off sending the...

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
The fuel injectors I've got currently in my car are totally black the ones that I've got what with the the alloy head from the the 135 TF are all dark blue ( TARDIS blue) According to the information I've researched the blue have a slightly higher fuel rate. about 10% As far as I'm aware the only ot...

Re: MGF CVT fuel injectors
Compression I'm getting is 240-245 psi I think across all four cylinders. I've also had a camera down the spark plug holes and the tops of the pistons and combustion chamber is lovely and clean, so I don't believe it's because of a buildup of carbon the car mileage was about 40000 head gasket was do...

MGF CVT fuel injectors
Hello all. I have MGF CVT W plate Car runs very well just passed MOT yesterday for third time no advisers When the MOT inspector did the emissions he notified me that there seems to be air in the system giving the Lambada Reading close to the maximum allowable amount. The CO 0.04 max allowed 0.30 Th...

Re: Mgf 1.8 mpi engine pinking
Also it's not tapping noise from the valves and camshaf , as again this sounds completely different. My valves and camshafts are silent running even when I remove the oil filler cap and put my ear down it's beautiful and quiet not quite as quiet as my Jag but for a K series it's superb.

Re: Mgf 1.8 mpi engine pinking
No I don't think it's piston slap in fact I'm pretty certain it's not. The noise im getting at only 1700 rpm. its like you holding a triangle and ringing it. alternative is having a load of wine glasses empty and then ringing them with a metal spoon. But you don't get the Echo with a noise I'm getti...
