OK so now I'm totally confused. Last night I researched online and did all the multiple press tests, test modes etc in the dark with a torch. Thanks for the suggestions everyone, when it stops raining I'll have a good look around and see what I can find. The car was first registered March 2003 so the tin cowl is a possibility.

I was quite surprised to find the underside of the carpets soaking wet when I lifted them to run a new aerial cable. Is this a common problem with the TF? I'm guessing it's rain getting in as the water was perfectly clear, no road dirt etc, but I cannot see any obvious tracks around the door, window...

Does anyone out there know where I can source a full tonneau, the one that clips under the windscreen with a zip down the middle. The original factory part number was DSD 100630, surely there must be a few out there, or a trimmer who can make one, but I have found nothing in three months of internet...
