Mouse in Boot
A couple of days ago I opened the rear boot to find a chewed scarf and a ripped and empty packet of chocky biscuits. further investigation showed mouse poo and a torn fleece jacket. I stripped out all my bits and pieces but no sign of the varmint or any sign of a nest. I left a trap for a couple of ...

Windscreen washers not working
Had a problem with washers yesterday- reservoir full, pump running but no water on screen. Following pipe work to small non-return value on underside of bonnet, disconnected valve and tried blowing through it (doesn't screenwash taste awful!) no luck so tried connecting to foot pump 2 quick pumps di...

Re: Should the Alarm go off when boot is opened?
My 2004 TF allows me to open boot with key without rtiggering alarm and resets when boot is closed, as above any attempt to open bonnet triggers alarm. Incidently a couple of years ago I had 2 keys cut at local keyshop, (as precaution against locking keys in boot, once was enough!) these keys will o...

Re: BOOT release the MGF register way, anyone remember?
I can thoroughly recommend cable boot release. I bought the outer and inner cable from Halfords bike department. They sell them in whatever lentgh you need (no, I can't remember what length I bought but it was JUST enough so over estimate!) Incidently while I was in the bike department I bought an a...

Re: Cracked Back Window
Hi Sue, join the cracked window club. You will find discussion on this topic on North West site starting in Nov 07. I had mine replaced by KRJ Trimmers of Middlewich. They were a nice bunch of people, the price in May 08 was £110 + VAT, price may have changed. The phone number is 01606834480. Good l...

Door Mirror
I've just managed to break the adjusting handle of my drivers door mirror :( . Two questions, it is non-elecrtic yet there are two wire from inside the door leading to the mirror why? The plastic pin has broken and does not look repairable, I've seen a couple on e-bay but they seem a bit pricey. Are...

Door Handles
Last year the passenger door handle on my 2004 TF broke (one lug of the external pull bar) I replaced it witha second-hand part off ebay. Today the driver's handle has broken (plastic support of the metal lift bar fractured) The question: should I go for another second hand one for £5 ish + p&p or a...

Re: Windscreen wash - pump broken/nozzles clogged
Very interesting thread, I bought a pair of Citroen MIST jets on ebay, fited them this afternoon, much better spray pattern, most of it stays on the screen instead of shooting over my passenger. :D The old jets were a pain to keep adjusting. :x Another thought occurred to me, has anybody tried fitti...

Re: Lazy tourist
I fully endorse the comments about the Nebo road, really spectacular views and a great driving road. I can recommend the Stag at Llangernyw great food (and cheap if you are over a certain age) and very interesting bits and pieces hanging around in the bar. Next to the Stag is what is reputed to be t...

day running lights
Has anybody tried fitting Audi R8 type LED day running lights. I have been using Volvos for years with day running lights, but a black TF is not too obvious to other road users it seems. I thought the LEDs might be a cheepish (e bay) solution.

MGTF Remote boot release
Finally got round to fitting remote boot release cable as suggested by Scarlet Fever back in Nov 2007. Many thanks for the idea, bit of a fiddle but works beautifully but for one prob: When it is used the boot won't shut unless I fidle with the release arm on the lock. It seems that the internal(?) ...

Re: Accelerator cable
Sorry to bring up the subject again, but as predicted by others on this topic my 'fixed' accelerator has returned to its sticky state after a few months. Mention was made of a silicone oil, Triflow I've found some info about it on the net but can't find a retail supplier. It appears to be available ...

I know it is getting harder to source Hydrolastic parts but this does seem a bit extreme.

Re: Lazy tourist
Hi, North Wales has some stunning roads and views. Route I am suggesting covers main roads but if you have time to spare the yellow road options are very satisfying and usually very quiet (apart from the odd tractor , of course!) From Tenby, head for Cardigan A478 then A475 Lampeter. (The alternativ...

Garage Servicing
My TF is now 4 years old and should have its belts changed asap. I'm too idle/old to do it myself so am looking for recommended MG specialists in N.Wales/Wirral/Cheshire area, does anybody have any thoughts or recommendations and rough guide to likely cost. Car is very low mileage but I assume the b...

Re: Cam/Timing Belt change reminder
Being too old/idle to do it myself, any typical quotes for replacement of cam and alternator belts, my TF has just passed its 4th birthday and although only 12000 miles , seems like a sensible precaution. Are there any other bits and pieces (pulleys etc) that should be changed at the same time?

Headlight bulbs
Having read reports (in Auto express etc) about new Philips X-treme "80% brighter bulbs" I 've just ordered a pair of H7s. Has anybody else tried them Are they worth changing to and do the lights need setting up after the change.
Thanks M
