Re: Engine cooling fan sensor

Can confirm later TFs did not have engine bay temp probe! The (coolant) temperature probes - plural, are on a hose outlet housing on the front face of the engine block. yes, the difficult side to reach - engine bay cover off and all that involves. One sensor uses one wire and is the instrumentation ...

Re: battery drained - how ?

There are a few items that are a constant draw on the battery - not normally enormous, but add up in time - clock, fuel gauge, radio (standby/memory), alarm/BCU as you'll see a number of items like interior lights operate without needing key in the ignition.

Re: Over revving

If a sensor puts out a reading that is in range/valid and nothing else contradicts it then wouldn't be considered faulty by the system - in this case it would consider you had the throttle operated

Re: Wheel alignment advice needed

Do you have a brake dragging at all? My AP four-pots developed the corrosion build-up behind the pad 'skids' causing the pads to bind in position more on one side than the other - sorted now. Also though, with the modern roads causing tyre and wheel damage I have had tyres go out of true (stock Pire...

Re: Cat astrophy

Not sure how much of an issue the CAT age is - the exhaust system on my 04 TF160 was original when I got it at over 65k miles. I changed the back box as I thought it should have failed the MOT with that much corrosion and the strap failing, and all was definitely original as the nuts were terminally...

Re: Blue wire

Sounds like bomb defusing eh! Depending on what you've got and the stereo unit concerned, one colour blue can be to sub activation, but also another for a powered aerial. This goes from low volts when unit it off to high volts, as a trigger to the device, but NOT a power feed, I was sorting my Uncle...

Re: MGF Radio upgrade - advice sought . . .

As part of a refresh for my TF160 when I bought it, it sounded rather gutless - found a blue parrot bluetooth phone add-in to be a horrible scramble of cabling interrupting the radio loom - removed and a bit better, then looked at the speakers - standard fair are best fitted to the bin; replaced wit...

Re: TF Coolant temperature gauge

Yes, single wire blue plug and makes earth connection through the engine. ECU temp is 2-wire brown plug, both off the same housing. Plugs are referred to as Junior Power Timer, however, the ECU plug is special with an offset keyway that is hard to source. Had a similar issue on my '04 reg 160 after ...
