Re: MGF Front splitter... choices
Was the site cost not £60 (?) with free UK delivery ? I thought the high delivery cost was for Europe ? Looked at it a while ago and didn't go ahead. Will be interested to hear how you get on.

Re: Missing relay socket
After a bit of twisting and turning I found the socket well hidden in the wiring behind the fusebox. Both relay and switch now fitted. Relay put back in where the socket came from with a cable tie to hold it in place (see picture). Wonder when this was attached to the fuse box panel rather than hidd...

Re: Missing relay socket
The second picture in that thread is exactly what I see. Need to dig around behind the fuse box. Pleased I am not the only one. Missed that thread when I was looking !!!
Wonder how many don't have the relay in the 'expected' position ?
Thank you

Re: Missing relay socket
I looked in the place shown on all the images I could find but there is no socket there. There are 2 filled sockets and then nothing. Going to have a good look up behind the fuse box tomorrow as a quick look showed nothing. The connection for the switch is behind the centre console as expected and t...

Missing relay socket
Hello, help needed as per usual here. Bought a hardtop and getting ready to connect up HRW. Purchased relay and switch as per the advice from everywhere. Relay arrived today, went to slot it in and there is no socket there :o . Had a look around and can't see anything hanging around loose. Anyone go...

Re: Tyne and Wear repairs
Had my F sorted (HG, water pump and timing plus cat failure) a couple of months ago at Classic and Retro near Langley Park. Good quality, thorough work and they kept me updated about what was going on. It took awhile as they were busy but seems to have been worth it as car now runs much smoother. Ro...

Re: battery drained - how ?
Battery charged - started first time ! Hurray.
Battery disconnected - need to purchase a cutout switch and fit that.
Still have not solved footwell light problem but that can wait until better weather.

Re: battery drained - how ?
Thank you all.
Looks like a new battery is the best idea then. Might try and get this one tested by the friendly local garage and they can get me the replacement if needed.

battery drained - how ?
After buying my 1996 MGF in October I spent time driving it, enjoying it and keeping an eye out for things to put right. One of the things I noticed was the lack of bulbs in the mirror along with disconnected high level break and under bonnet lights. I put bulbs in the mirror, re-connected the high ...

Re: Footwell lights problem (yes again - sorry !)
Thanks for all the input. When time allows I will trace the wires from footwell lights back to wherever I can see without pulling the loom apart. From the wiring diagrams I have looked at there appear to be a couple of 'junctions' where the wires meet up with those from the mirror etc. While these a...

Re: Footwell lights problem (yes again - sorry !)
Thanks RobboMC. I will have to work out which is the earth wire - will look at the wiring diagram on line and then try and trace it back. I've used the spare 15 amp fuse so think I will get a couple of spares in before I start any more fiddling around with lights etc. A previous owner had taken out ...

Footwell lights problem (yes again - sorry !)
I have looked at the existing threads about this already but am making no headway. The footwell lights worked until I fixed the light under the bonnet - it was disconnected as was the light in the boot (fixed a week or so ago) when I bought the car. There were also no bulbs in the mirror lights ! An...

Re: Not sure ...... suggestions
No fluid on garage floor. Car regularly used since buying it a month ago. Used to be hard to get into reverse, now is much easier. Been out twice since problem and no re-occurrence. Going to get hydraulics checked and look at pedal 'gear'.

Not sure ...... suggestions
Strange thing happened today. Out for a run in the sun in MGF. Parked out in the countryside, took some photographs. Got back into car and started manoeuvring out of car park. Car gets stuck in reverse. Eventually got it out of reverse but can't select any other gear. Put it back into reverse and it...

Newbie help wanted
Hello I hope that somebody on her can help me, been looking in for a while waiting till I had the car I wanted. Just bought a Mk1 MGF. The car runs well and is in very good condition overall. The concern I have is that the area above the coolant tank on the boot lid is getting 'hot'. The temperature...
