Re: 2009 TF COOLING SYSTEM QUESTION

Thank you so much for the above help, they were great photos ArntyR, thank you. I have managed to get a new 3 way connector and is fitted. I think that my suspicion about a repair was correct as outlined above. I managed to get hold of Roger Parker who was helpful with photos as well. Why the coolin...

LE500 Exhaust Manifold Upgrade Question

Hi. Have been looking at a few others who have done a great job of upgrading their exhaust manifold for a stainless steel version, which has been designed for greater flow and performance. The head of the N series engine which is fitted to the LE500/85 should I believe be the same as earlier MGR TFs...

Nice new front sub frame mount. Need to change near side headlight as part of the inside has broken off. Might clean up under the bumper area once it's off. Thought about fitting an emergency pull cord for the bonnet release.

Re: 2009 TF COOLING SYSTEM QUESTION

I think I might have an incline what’s happened. There is an LE500 part number, thank you for the above reference, PER000150, which is a 3 way connector which may be used on the later Tfs etc. But I have a 4 way fitted with one port blocked off. If in the past, the 3 way failed and they were unable ...

Re: 2009 TF COOLING SYSTEM QUESTION

Thanks for that. No it’s definitely not right. I’ve hauled through old photos of my 2005 TF, but didn’t photo that section in particular even when I replaced the head gasket! I must admit going through the exploded diagrams on the net doesn’t really help much as they are so exploded you aren’t shown...

2009 TF COOLING SYSTEM QUESTION

Hi. Can anyone please identify what is missing from the following pictures. I need to I.d. The hose, which look s like it’s had a repair carried out at some point. Im talking about where the hose has clearly been cut and had a stopper put in it. As this is an N series engine I don’t want it to run h...

Re: MGF/TF wanted

Hiya. I work on the Warwick road in Tyseley, west Mids. Just opposite near to the train depot are 3 TFs lined up in a small dealership/parts vendor. No prices but can't imagine too expensive. Look complete, probably not the best, but my first TF was pretty tired and unkempt, but turned out fantastic ...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Just fitted the rear big brake kit bought on fleabay. 280mm discs instead of the usual 240mm giving a better brake balance in theory when matched with the 304mm discs at the front. Will see how they go but certainly pull well. Will put a photo on when I get a better lit day. Also got round to fittin...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Slowly bringing my new toy up to scratch...fitting a front splitter/spoiler and have received a brake servo strengthening bracket which I also fitted to my old TF. Feels like I've done all this before but it will be worth it in the end, still miss my old one though! Oh well.

Re: TF 85 stripes/decals

Hi. Thanks for the above contacts. I will certainly be looking into each of these. It is a shame that these LEs. Although having nice paintwork, are brought down by poor stripes. Given that they are contrasting colours for the original 85 scheme i didnt want to replace with just anything. Faded or d...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Hi. Thanks for that. I like the way that looks. Been looking at a few available on line, so will definitely go for it. Very tidy. I'll take a look at how the cowl is held on again. I've had the Speedo out before but can't remember seeing the cowl fixings. But thanks for the info. Cheers. Garry.

Re: MG TF 85TH OIL TEMP GAUGE

In addition to the above, I tested the input wire for for the gauge power, which was over 13volts. The lights when switched on illuminated the gauge so that worked as well. So the only two wires which I think are a important are the blue/brown which is direct from the sender and the power to the gau...

MG TF 85TH OIL TEMP GAUGE

Hi. I’ve been trying to fault diagnose a problem with the original oil temp gauge which wasn’t reading any temp at all. I have put in a second hand silver faced gauge and this appears to sort of working although I haven’t driven the car with it in yet. Testing at the back connection s give voltages ...

MG TF 85th anniversary wheel centres/logo colour

Hi. If there is anyone on the site who has an 85th with the twist of pepper wheels, do you happen to know what colour the wheel centres are supposed to be. Mine has red/cream logo but I can’t tell on photos what originally came with them. I just want to get the car looking how it’s supposed to, sort...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Got the discs replaced and treated the front subframe to a scrub and refresh with black Hammerite . Have now replaced one lower bush on the front shocks was a bit of a pain to press out, but managed in the end. Treated the interior to complete clean and now looking better. Replaced engine oil, think...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

AD5F6853-C8FB-4BA7-B247-3C97CC4FDE1C.png I’ve had lots to do the past few weeks since I blew my wallet buying the above. Warped discs, hood seals, lots of paint chips, incorrect wheels/tyres, very poor interior, worn suspension bushes...the list goes on. The idea of course is that eventually I’ll e...
