Re: Mug
Getting on fine with the 3 MG's, Did Bedford autodrome with MG's On Track, myself and son had a brilliant time thrashing the first MG round the track. Got to fit 4 pot brake callipers and a Mike Satur coil spring suspension kit before the next Track Day. I may be 74, but MG's on track beats the hell...

Re: Early Fog Lamp Switch.
A s/hand replacement switch cured the problem, and I have been told the later F switch will fit with a bit of fettling.
If someone can tell me which relay operates the fog lamps, I will replace it just in case.

Early Fog Lamp Switch.
Hi all, The rear fog lamp switch has failed on my early MGF. Its MOT time, so I need to replace it. But the early switch is no longer avalable. Part number YUG101830. Last year I managed to find a second hand one, but it soon failed. Has anyone found an alternative switch or can the later switch be ...
Re: Mug
Well guys, I am definetly a mug, as I have just bought a 3rd MGF. The vvc blew its hydrogas displacers. Then I heard of a vvc for sale cheap that had a Mike Satur suspension kit fitted. The seller listed a load of faults, Alarm, Doors not shutting properly, poor paint and so on. I bought it over the...
Re: Mug
Hi guys, well I had the vvc out for a track day at Abingdon airfield. I had a lot of fun. I only passed one car, and that was when he spun! but what the heck. I kept the rev's down to 6,000 as the cam belt needs replacing, but the car ran well all day. I did over 100 miles so I certanly got my money...

Re: Hardtop for the track
Yes, I realise that, but the hardtop rests on the folded down hood. Is it a case of fitting a rubber seal or similar to the lower rear edge of the hardtop and adjusting the catches acordingly?

Hardtop for the track
Hi all, I am preparing a vvc for Trackdays. I have a hardtop to fit, but that clamps down onto the hood. I was going to remove the hood to save weight, but then the hardtop cannot clamp down.
How do the Competition boys fit their hardtops? Or is it a complete re-work and bolt to the roll cage?

Re: MGF VVC 5500RPM rev. limit
Have a look at my post in "welcome". Wrong place for a technical matter, but worth a look. My problem was the rear VVC belt was a tooth out. Check cam timing on both belts. You may need to get the car hooked up to a testbook or T4. If you are not to far from Witney, I can recomend "Just Right Autos"...
Re: Mug
Hi all, ended up taking the car to "Just Right Autos at Witney" they found air was leaking into the inlet manifold via a pattern part stepper motor, The cam timing was correct on the front belt, but out a tooth on the rear VVC belt, and the ox sensor was a pattern part and the ECU did not like it. T...
Re: Mug
To prove I am some sort of mug, I have just bought another MG. A superb MGTF 1.6. It was too good to pass by. On the road and enjoying the sunshine! I am keeping the VVC, (cannot let it beat me), and when sorted may take it to some "MG's on track" days and have fun. Regards to all, Woody. (the Mug!).
Re: Mug
Thanks guys. The emission problems are not straight forward. The cat had no internals. Replaced the cat and gaskets, still high co and high idle. Would not rev past 5500rpm. Replaced coils, leads and plugs, cam sensor, temp sensor. After some research, checked alignment on vvc solenoids, replaced co...
Mug
Hi all, I broke all the rules when I bought my MGF VVC. No history, no MOT, failed on brakes (an easy fix) and emissions. I thought the emissions would be easy to sort as the exhaust had a blown gasket. Not so, but I am enjoying tinkering with it and have no regrets. Reg number is T647NLC if anyone ...
