Re: MGF 1.8 mpi FOR SALE
Hi JEA55, Thanks for your enquiry, yes the car is still for sale. I can confirm that the head gasket was changed on 26th August 2020 by Church Square Autos at 80193 miles. The cambelt was changed on 6th March 2020 also by Church Square Autos at 80146 miles. No mention of rust on any of the MoTs. The...

I had a BAS one fitted to my F recently, they are good. Be prepared for a long wait though.

Re: Replacing plastic rear screen
All sorted. Went back to the fitters this morning, who contacted BAS. It seems quite a bit of force is needed on the screen to get it to drop into place.

Re: Cambelt Replacement
Hi,
Not used them myself, but these guys get some good reviews so worth checking out. They travel widely so Gloucestershire shouldn't be a problem, but you'd need to make sure you're happy with their travel costs.

Re: Replacing plastic rear screen
Attempted to lower the new rear glass screen this afternoon I could not get the screen to lie flat behind the seats, even when unzipped. The hood doesn't go fully down as it did before with the plastic screen. The frame of the hood presses on the screen, which doesn't seem right. Pictures attached. ...

Re: Replacing plastic rear screen
Just a quick update, a BAS glass rear screen was fitted today by a specialist trimming company in Poole, Dorset. They did a very good job and it looks great. The new screen is very tight as expected but should ease in time. The fitter advised that I would need to unzip the screen when lowering the h...

Re: 1998 MGF repair project of a fabulous car
I agree with David, it might be possible to fix the car. I would get the engine looked at to see what damage has been done by the blown head gasket and take it from there. If the rest of the car is good then it's probably worth investing in it.

Re: Who`s been Spotted..........
An interesting afternoon trip around Dorset and Somerset today. Followed 2 MGBs along the coast road from Bridport to Weymouth (superb road if you get the chance with scenic views) both were foreign LHD. Then into Portesham passed a nightfire red F and exchanged a wave. A good day.

Final score: MGF 3 : 2 MX-5
As a kid I was not particularly interested in prestigious, expensive sports cars (that I assumed I would never be able to afford anyway) but hankered after midgets, spitfires, GT6, TRs etc. As a young man in my 20s I got myself a 1275cc RWA MG Midget and loved it. Although newish when I bought it th...

Re: Replacing plastic rear screen
Thanks Nigel and Steve. As my hood is in good condition I intend to replace just the glass section. The BAS one looks fine to me so I'll get that one. Thanks for the useful guide on how to do it Steve. I'll need to get myself a rivet gun first.

Replacing plastic rear screen
I'd like to replace the plastic rear screen on my 2001 MGF which has seen better days. Ideally I'd prefer a glass screen for improved visibility. I was wondering where's the best place to get one and crucially how easy are they are to fit? I'd prefer to do it myself if it's fairly straightforward. I...
