Looking for Radio replacement with android auto, 7" screen

I'm probably dreaming, but does anyone know of a head unit that will fit in the single DIN space in the console, and provide Android Auto and Apple Carplay, with a decent size screen?. I was considering the Sony XAV-AX3000. I would be glad to hear from anyone who has tried something like this. Enjoy...

Re: Replacing all subframe mounts

This won't be any consolation to talkingcars. Since my last post, I found the part on Rimmer's web site. Go to MGF/TF parts, choose Rear Suspension, then Rear Subframe. The bolt is number 94 on the diagram. However, the right entry for my MGF is NOT in the right place. Look down the parts list and y...

Re: Replacing all subframe mounts

Well, a couple of months have gone by since I first posted this thread. After many tries of unbolting the engine mounts and pushing the engine forward I could never get quite enough clearance to fit the bolt into the hole in the subframe. I decided to stay with the original rear subframe rear mounts...

Re: New member - old time MG owner.

Welcome, Rob.

I'm in Hoppers Crossing and I drive a 1999 VVC (currently undergoing suspension replacement). I've got aPscan so perhaps we could meet some time to check if you've got any error codes.

Cheers,

Edwin.

Re: Replacing all subframe mounts

Rob, Hi from frozen Melbourne. We've had a blast of cold air from Antarctica for the last two weeks giving us real "brass monkey" weather. To hopefully make things clearer, I have attached two photos. The first shows the new mount from Mike Satur. The big difference is there is no separate nut; it's...

Replacing all subframe mounts

Hi, I'm replacing all eight subframe mounts on my 1999 MGF VVC with Mike Satur solid mounts. I'm doing this without removing the subframes or the engine from the car. What has got me stumped is the rear mounts on the rear subframe. After removing the nut on the long bolt, there isn't enough room to ...

Brad, I can't help with your question, and you may not get any replies, as this is an old thread (2015). I suggest you start a new thread with your question.

Cheers.

Tim,

I know a good guy in Pascoe Vale who has a T4 and can program the fobs. Would that work for you?

Re: Another MGF newbie (Gold Coast, Australia)

Hi Pez, Welcome to the forum. Beautiful car, I hope you are enjoying it. It looks just like mine! I'm based in Melbourne, and I bought mine in August. Did you ever get those figures on how many 1999 75th Anniversary in cars were made in silver? Cheers -- 1999 75th Anniversary MGF VVC 2001 Rover 75 C...

MGF Remote fob

Hi everyone, I have a1999 MGF SE VVC, and I want to get a new remote fob. Rimmers seem to list two different parts, and I don't know how to tell which one matches my car. The first one they list is part number YWX101220A. It is for 433MHz alarm. The second one listed is for 315MHz alarm. How can I t...

Re: F and TF tyre pressure differences

More information to add to my original post; On my 1999 75th Anniversary VVC, factory fitting for all four wheels is 7J X 16. The recommended tyre pressures are 26 (front) and 28 (rear). The tyres I have are what was on the car when I bought it a couple of months ago; Nankang Noble Sport NS-20 215/4...

Re: oil temp when motorway cruising

Does anyone know what time of year that testing in Alice Springs was done? Winter temperatures up there are about 18 to 20 Celsius, whereas in Summer it can be between 35 and 42 Celsius.

Re: F and TF tyre pressure differences

That's really interesting about slip angles. I never heard of that before. Regarding the handling, when I bought the car the tyre pressures were about 38psi all round. It would understeer slightly going into a corner, then oversteer on the throttle coming out. Lots of fun 8-) and a great introductio...

Re: AP racing calipers under standard wheels without spacers... pure madness!

I've been wondering for a while about the AP calipers upgrade. I would like to get more initial bite from the brakes. My 75th anniversary VVC has 16" wheels, but do you (or anyone) know if they fit with the AP calipers, or potentially would fit with your modified radial mount setup? :sf:

Thanks

Re: F and TF tyre pressure differences

Now I've thought about it some more, the TF has narrower front tyres, which would also influence the tyre pressures. So I now realise my original question doesn't make much sense.

Re: Reconditioning leather seats

Currently, the car is with my mechanic having the suspension sorted out. When I get it back, I will send off a piece of the leather (the gear shift gaiter) so they can colour match the restorer. It will be a few weeks before I have anything more to report.

F and TF tyre pressure differences

I notice the tyre pressures recommended for the TF with 16" wheels are higher than for the MG F. Since the wheels and tyres are the same on both models, and the vehicle weight is about the same, there must be some other factor in play. I speculate that it is the suspension differences - hydragas vs ...
