TF galvanised subframes on EBay

They’re a pair of galvanised subframes on EBay for £270. I had a pair done and it cost more than that and I had the hassle of blasting first. The only irritation was getting extra long taps to re thread all the fixings, once done they will last for ever. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326099294683?mkcid...

Re: Dashboard removal

To have only manual steering just remove the fuse for the EPAS, plenty of info regarding doing it. Some have actually used a relay so that they can switch it on and off at will.

Re: TT MK9 Exhaust

I had one on my MGTF when I got it, I found it embarrassing to have a loud exhaust on what is a relatively slow car. I took it off and replaced it with another one that I had.

Re: Are there any suppliers left?

I fitted autobushes and they are fine, the only problem I have is that I was a bit tight fisted and didn't replace the engine steady bushes, when I accelerate or brake just moderately hard the exhaust downpipe hits the subframe. Apparently a well known problem with the Chinese stainless steel downp...

Re: Brand of air conditioning pump

I am not sure if you are responding to my reply but it seems to be like this; The Nissens 89232 compressor that I linked to fits the following cars that are fitted with the K4 engine, Freelander 1998-2006, MGTF 2002-2008, Rover 75 1998-2005 MG ZR, ZS and ZT all from 2001 to 2005. The earlier Rover 2...

Re: Brand of air conditioning pump

They are available new from plenty of sources, the same unit appears to have been fitted to all K$ engined cars ie Rover 200, 25, Streetcar but the only brand seems to be Nissens. Nissens are a big OE manufacturer all over Europe; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115806576612?epid=17031370334&hash=item1af...

Re: Brand of air conditioning pump

It appears from the numbers of used ones on eBay they used both Denso and Sanden. You might find a new one for less than a recon, there are plenty of Nissens ones kicking around but shipping and duty might kill that idea

Every owner should do at least one MGOT event, like you we found everyone friendly when we went to Castle Coombe, we will definitely go to at least one this year. We drive on Exmoor quite a bit on some good driving roads, a friend whose husband is an ex road traffic officer told us that is where the...

Re: Turbo or 'as is'?

The F and TF are not the best basis for increased power, whatever you do will be expensive, see Retro Sports cars for their KV6 conversion. If you read Roger Parkers book there are problems with fitting a turbocharger in a MGF or TF, firstly the lack of space and the heat build up. The 1.8T engine o...

Re: teaching a learner - manual

Twenty four years ago tomorrow I started to teach my eldest son to drive. Every Sunday morning we would do about an eighty mile circuit, starting out over the Blackdown Hills to Honiton, then up the A30 to Yeovil and then back through Taunton and home. It was a mix of country B roads, main A roads d...

Re: New Owner- Tyres

I just checked and Toyo Proxes TR1 205/50/15 are £82 each from the RAC including fitting, 185/50/15 TR1's are £64.39 a total of £293 for four tyres. These prices were straight off Ebay and were the cheapest ones including fitting. If you are prepared to do the leg work it can be cheaper to buy them ...

Another option and potentially a better one is this from an earlier thread, the reason it may be better is that it does away with the weak MG expansion tank; https://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10757&p=201171&hilit=low+coolant+alarm#p201171 These are available on Ebay from numerous...

Re: Car Valuation

It’s very difficult to value a car, due to it being down to the time of the year and supply and demand, at the present time there seems to be little demand. Two weeks ago I bought a TF with 80,000 miles exceptionally clean interior, and a virtually new TT exhaust and had been waxoiled so the undersi...

While deleting photos on my phone, I found this one of the tracking after ATS had done their work. Notice that the toe is in the green area denoting that the adjustment is correct but the offside rear camber is in a red area meaning that the adjustment is incorrect. The coloured green/red/green bar...

Re: TF tracking, take the correct settings with you.

Rob, they are not professionals, they are one trip ponies who can turn the machine on and make adjustments. If you have watched them do it on the rear of a TF adjusting the toe by two degrees makes a massive change to the camber as well. They wanted to charge an additional £30 to bring the camber ba...
