FasTForward Collection Available

Some on here along with some MGs-on-Track folk will know that I recently sold my 2010 TF, which had been one of the family for 8 years. The TF was preceded by a 2003 TF and that, in turn, by a 1998 F. Somewhere along the line I also ran a MG ZS180. Anyhow, with my departure from the world of MG afte...

Re: Boot spring sheared - how to replace?

To Rob's earlier point about realignment, several years ago I spent many months (on and off) trying to get the boot to shut cleanly so that all the shut lines were good. The sticking point (haha) was the front nearside corner always caught on the bodywork when everything else was seemingly lined up....

Re: Where are you buying your Falkens?

For the last 15 years I've always got/get mine from ProTyre. As the group has expanded they now have branches nationwide. https://www.protyre.co.uk/

Edited to add - always call for a price as well. Sometimes the phone price is cheaper than the web price and sometimes it's the other way round.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

It was a glorious early spring day in the Cotswolds today, so I took the opportunity to wash and wax two of the cars, including the TF. In fact it was such a lovely day we took the TF out for a pub lunch. My last sentence may not be true, (I wish it was), but we did take the TF out to a 'local' farm...

Re: E10 petrol from September 2021

/Off Topic ps At risk of thread hijack does your Motors TF have a high tickover, too frequent engine fan and no EKA code? I'm asking because this seems to be yet another 'difference'... MGMotors TF owners seem loathe to share (or don't seem aware of) the significant differences with MGR and, like my...

Re: Correct Coolant Type

Just for absolute clarity, in case anyone searches in future (and I have posted this previously :) ): Early vehicles up to VIN No: 512771 use UNIPART Superplus 3 Anti-freeze and Summer Coolant GEC1020 - 20 litre and GEC 1002 2 litre to protect the cooling system. The coolant is yellow/green in colou...

Re: Handbrake light

This was a well known, well documented issue, especially in the early days; the commonest reason being that the microswitch is probably out of adjustment.
Lots of info on here from years gone by. Try searching eg Handbrake warning light switch etc

Re: EKA code woes

I spent many months back in 2014 trying to resolve this issue of the EKA codes with Chinese cars. Despite many discussions with many knowledgable people, both face to face and by pm (and ArntyR you may remember you were one!), I never did get it to work. Nick at Austin Garages told me that they had ...

Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) are a massive Group. Micheldever now only handle the wholesale side of the business, Protyre being their retail arm. Don't know exactly where you're based, but Protyre have local outlets in Micheldever, Andover, Newbury and Basingstoke. My last quote (last week) was c...

Another vote here for Jon and the guys at Wilcox.

They have looked after my F, my ZS180, and my 2 TF's over the years. Years of experience and so much spares stock available.

Re: "Modern" MGF tyre recommendations

Agree with Steve's comments above, and in fact run Falkens without issue on my TF, but FWIW, the replacement Toyo TR1's (that replace, and should not be confused with the original T1R's!!!) have received favourable comments from the guys at VHS.

Re: soft top window

Greygate plastic polish was always the product of choice 'back in the day' to solve the problem of milky rear screens on the F. A quick Google shows that it's still readily available. I've still got a couple of pots in the garage, but unfortunately even with the easing of restrictions, probably just...

Re: battery isolator

Agree 100% with Kasper, and have an isolator fitted -ve side of battery. The TF battery, which is only eighteen months old or so, loses enough oopmh in 3-4 weeks, locked and alarmed, to prevent starting. Unlocked and without alarm, probably double the number of weeks. I've tried unsuccesfully to fin...

Re: TF Battery drain

Ditto all the above.

Because my TF tends to now only be used on high days, holidays and for the occasional track day, I fitted a battery isolator switch. No issues now even though the car is often unused for several weeks at a time - especially this time of year!

Some additional searching suggests that GUF - Cordoba Gold (Pearl Metallic) was used between 1999-2001.
