Re: KV6 on an MGF subframe up for grabs
Crumbs Brian - I thought that it had all been sold ages ago! How's the Alfa? Regarding the parts above, I've seen the work to date, and it's all very good. And I happen to know where the spare fuel tank and subframe came from ;) If Brian hasn't changed his mobile number in the last couple of years ...

Re: KV6 on an MGF subframe up for grabs
Loooooooong time away from this thread, but all of this is still available as it's lain covered up in the garage doing nothing for 3 years.. If anyone is interested, the price above still stands - even if you break the engine and sell the bits, you stand to make more. PM or email me if interested. F...

Re: Does the mgf vvc keys need to be programmed?
I can code fobs, but I'm based in London. I often do a quick engine management code read/adaptions reset at the same time, all in for £40.

Re: Winter Warm Up
Drive it like normal, not too much load, not too much revs until the temp comes up to normal. Give it progressively more welly as time goes on to get the oil up to temperature. Above all, don't worry about it - head gasket will go for a prevailing issue (i.e. low liner heights or soft head) and not ...

Re: WANTED: Vernier Pulleys for VVC
Verniers don't exist for the VVC, as said, offset dowels are the way. Dave advised the following to me when I asked for the ideal timing on a VVC with a 1326 exhaust cam: "If you are running the stock VVC mechs and 1326 profile, then lift at TDC should be around 2 thou for the inlet (fully retracted...

Re: mgf exhaust heat shields
No, because the thermostat is opened by the wax bulb that's in the water stream, not from radiated heat outside of the cooling system.
I wouldn't want to run an MGF/TF without at least the engine bay shields - I've seen alternators fry and take out the ENTIRE electrical system due to overheating

Re: hyraulic control unit leek
No, you don't have to.
To cure the leak, use new labyrinth seals rather than sealant, and also use threadlock on the bolts if you find there's a drilling break through into the cam housing which happened on some engines (Rover issued a tech bulletin about this).
Brian.
