Can anybody confirm that the Engine Number, shown on the sticker on the top face of the cam belt cover, is also still impressed into the front face of the cylinder block? It's so difficicult to see!

Problems with Header Tanks and Coolant Alarms
I've been having problems with my own design of a Low Level Coolant Alarm, which I think may well have an impact on other designs available on the market. Have a look at http://www.apttony.co.uk/Servicing/CoolantAlarm.html or go to http://www.apttony.co.uk and search for "Coolant Alarm" in the left ...

Re: Who`s been Spotted..........
Just returned from 2 weeks touring the Picos de Europa mountains and Rioja province of Northern Spain.
Only saw one MGF/TF !!! Last Saturday, 18th June, heading north on the A127, north of Ejea - a matching British Racing Green. Lots of waves as they overtook us.

Urgently searching for Tony Thompson
I realise that this is not an MG orientated subject, but I'm trying to get the best possible spread on the web for this search, and I hope it will meet with your approval. Also, although my name is the same, I'm not the person being sought - a lot of you will know me through http://www.apttony.co.uk...

Thanks Nigel.
You've just confirmed what I thought would be a good place to go. In the throws of servicing the car and can't wait to get out there.

Re: Door glass to cantrail seals
Phil,
It is possible to alter the angle of the window relative to the car i.e. to bring the top edge further in or out away from the seal.
Have a look at http://www.apttony.co.uk/Servicing/GlassAdjust.html, in particularly the function of screw 'A'

Re: radiator fan seems to come on too often
It may well be that you have a poor connection on the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor.
Have a look at http://www.apttony.co.uk/Servicing/RadiatorFan.html
Simply disconnecting and reconnecting it several times may be enough to clean the connectors.

Re: Reverse Gear
On another point............where can I obtain a workshop manual. The usual source, Haynes does not appear to produce one. You're right - Haynes don't do one. What you can get, either in paper form or on CD, is the Rover Workshop Manual. Admin Edit: Please see Rule 2 above in reference to the CD ve...

Re: Reverse Gear
Hi Ayb, I have been told that by dropping the clutch, moving the gear lever into third and then into reverse helps this problem, which I have tried with some success Yes, stick it into another gear, nudge the car a lttle, and then try reverse again. It's a common quirk. As a side issue, have you che...

Re: windscreen pump
Hi Helsbymgtf, Yes, the EPC for both cars give the part number as DMC 100380 'Windscreen washer pump assembly'. However, have you checked that the jets themselves are not blocked? It only takes a small amount of dirt or build-up to reduce the flow. Try clearing the jets with a fine needle or somethi...

Re: Low level coolant alarm behaviour?
Will Munns on the BBS has made the following comments...... the engine does not run the main flow thru the header tank, the flow runs from the outlet pipe, thru the heater/bypass and radiator and then back into the thermostat. The flow thru the header tank is the bleed from the coolant outlet to cat...
