Re: Mk1 F Shocks
Yes, I knew it would, although I guess it's all a bit Marmite ;-) My everyday cars are mostly always Audi's and I always go for the SLine for the harder, nore positive ride. It'll be interesting to see how it is once I've done the rears as well. I must say, it felt a bit reckless taking out the std ...

Re: Mk1 F Shocks
Cheers bud, My mk1 is Aug 96, so about the same age. As it feels to give a bit of skipping out and a tad of oversteer when pushed, i.e. downward pressure on the outer weight bearing on corners, I'm inclined to think it's the spheres that are needing re-gassing too! I've got a spare set I think, so m...

Re: Mk1 F Shocks
Thank You Paul, I've not made it easy for myself, as I did a total rebuild of the front end last year (excluding the shocks), and Poly Bushed the front, but done the rear yet, which is next years job! So, where I find a bit of over steer and it being a little 'Tail Endy', I think is caused by this. ...

Re: Mk1 F Shocks
Cheers Paul, It's a good point...……….. I think I'll go for an everyday set of Gas shocks and see the difference. My ride height is just a few mm high after I put all of the front end back in last year, but it doesn't ever drop, so I'll get it back down to spot on and get the shocks replaced...…… I'm...

Re: Mk1 F Shocks
Thanks Charles, I agree...…… I used to run Monroe training nights in the early 90's...…….. it was fun to see the colour drain from the faces of big butch mechanics as they watched the cars crashing in the videos..... and my sales of shocks rocketed for a few weeks too! I'm just wondering if there is...

Mk1 F Shocks
Dear All, I'm looking to renew my shocks all round on my Mk1 MGF. I noticed a set for sale that have apparently only done 50 miles, but they are listed as fitting a Trophy 160..... are they the same as a Mk1 F? My hydro system is perfect and has never dropped or sagged, s I'm not contemplating a con...

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Hi All, I don't seem to be having much luck posting the pictures..... so fingers crossed it works this time.1 Thankfully though, I had more luck with my bracket mod for the hoses. I used the P-Clip that cam with the Goodridge hoses, and made a little bracket up. I'll not be 100% sure if they miss th...

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Well guys, Firstly, thanks for all your note, ideas, and opinions on this! I'm glad to say that I've done it!! I have to make my final checks once the car is back on its wheels to be 100% sure my new bracket will miss the bump stop, but at this time, I'm really rather chuffed at the results! How can...

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
I'm inclined to agree..... a simple strip, with a step in it to keep the pipe away from the top arm, bolted to the shock mount at one end, and bolted to the supplied P-clip the other

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
I guess what would solve this in a tidy way is to just make up a flat piece of steel with 2 holes...... 6mm for the P-Clip and 100mm to fix to the bottom shock bolt....... round the ends, paint it satin black... job done??

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Nice one............ although, I think it means they are 10mm wide, 20mm around (or long if you flattened it) and a 6 mm bolt hole?? And I guess the refer to 6mm as the hole through that it grips.......
Cheers though, it may well be worth a stab.

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
I think you can get p-clips in various combinations of bolt-hole size and pipe-holding diameter. Yes, you are correct, but from the ones I've searched, the problem is getting a P-Clip with the combination of a small grip size (braided hose) but with a large (10mm) fixing hole................. The h...

Re: How to secureley fit Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Yes, I probably could! ;-) I think though, the issue with P-Clips alone would be that to get a P-Clip with the correct larger size hole to fit on the lower shock bolt, would then make it too large to securely hold the pipe without some packing. Plus, it's always interesting seeing all the different ...
