MG TF 160 BRG For Sale - £1600

Hi all, I am unfortunately having to put my car up for sale! There is nothing wrong with it, in fact I use it every day to and from work, which is the main problem! The 60 mile round trip is starting to sap my money, even with a regular 40mpg returned. On top of that I just need a bigger car, more b...

Re: Wandering Rear End

A tutorial would be very useful!

Is there anyone on here who does this service for a reasonable price?

Re: Wandering Rear End

Oh well that sucks, its been at least 4 years. Only 32000 miles mind... What's the average cost? I'm presuming it requires an engine drop?!

Re: Wandering Rear End

Well after claiming the loose bolt was responsible, the effect was short lived and the problem got worse. Gave in eventually and took it to a garage, failed wheel bearing big style. Now fixed and she's driving like a dream again! Now... Do I risk a 3000 mile round trip to Italy next year for my hone...

Re: The 100K Club

My lil trooper marched on past 100,000 miles last week. Just had the offside rear wheel bearing and falangee replaced. Still on the original head though! :D

Re: Wandering Rear End

Well it turned out to be the bolt securing the top of the lower rear arm into the tob of the hub - it was loose and was leading to movement for the hub and therefore wheel - tightened it up and much improved now. I say much improved as there is still a bit of movement but I'll put that down to worn ...

Re: Wandering Rear End

Thanks for the replies guys! The effect is increased by the tramlines and side winds but is a constant presence at speed. My first port of call will be the track rods and ARB, if those are OK then I'll be looking at bearings although I have a feeling it will be the ARB (now noticed a bonging/creakin...

Wandering Rear End

Hi all, I have a bit of a worrying development on my car over the last month or so - when driving down the motorway at speeds of 50mph or more the back end begins to wander around, sometimes quite gently but sometimes quite a lot, leaving me to grip the steering wheel rather tightly for fear of losi...

Re: 2003 MGTF Rear Suspension Problem

I would get the bolts and shocks looked at. I replaced mine and after 600 miles they sheared off again. I think the bushes are shagged and that's causing massive strain on the bolts :(

I really think you would need to go down the chargecooler route and have the rad up front. Would also like to see the pics!

Re: Wiper linkage refit

Hey guys, I had to replace my wiper linkage, bought it a week or so ago and got around to fitting it today. The actual removal and disassembly and re-assembly was easy enough, but once re-fitted, my wipers now first move down the screen before wiping up the screen. This has resulted in me having to ...

Re: 1.8 K-turbo in a TF?

The whole point with the turbo is to have the extra torque. The vvc is gutless really and who spends their life revving to 7krpm? Most of the time you drive from 1k to 4k which is the zone for huge torque! The car would absolutely fly in any gear! :D Rob - glad to see someone thinks along the same l...

1.8 K-turbo in a TF?

Hi guys, I'm just wondering why I have never seen anyone drop the 1.8K turbo into the TF? People do the V6, the vtec and I've been considering the 1.8Vag turbo unit... Surely the K turbo would be great as you have the lightness of the K with more torque and power potential than the VVC. 200 shouldn'...

Re: N/S wiper stopped working

Ahh good man! Popped the cover off and the arm had detached itself from the ball joint. I just squeezed them back together now and it popped back on but I'm sure that wont last long!

Will probably order the replacement kit from MS next week and get it done properly

N/S wiper stopped working

Hi guys - my n/s wiper arm stopped moving yesterday!

I'm just wondering what it could be? I'm thinking it's most likely going to be the wiper motor but are there any other reasons it may stop working all of a sudden? The o/s wiper works fine
