Re: 10-11 Feb 2018 - Fools’ Artic Circle Germany

And fun we will have, thinking of last year in Berlin and Potsdam!

As to the winter tyres, I don’t think it’s an issue Colin. Here in Germany’s Far West it’s usually quite clear on the roads, even in February. We rarely had any snow in the lowlands for the past years.

10-11 Feb 2018 - Fools’ Artic Circle Germany

Polarkreis-2018-Logo klein.jpg Dear lovers of the (cold) night: We keep going! Last year’s Berlin Arctic Circle has found a successor. As you know from the London Arctic Circle/FRL, the idea to drive 110 miles top down in early February on the motorway is for complete fools only, so for the German ...

Nice one, Steve! Love the light smokestone interior with the charcoal/black body.

But you are a naughty boy, aren’t you:

Re: Stepspeed will not start in park but does in neutral

It could be that the selector mechanism is a little bit out of adjustment. You could try and hold the key in the crank position and slowly and slightly move the gear lever back and forth around the park position. Works on mine, when this occurs occasionally. Do the reverse lights switch on? Oh, and ...

Final Call!

The registration on the web site will only be open until 10th January, as I have to confirm the number of rooms with the hotel then. If you decide to join later, this will only work via email, I will then have to check for available accommodation individually.

Re: Is this the 'end of the road' for our green MGF?

Yes Graham, common problem. Russell Walsh would be your man then. He can do the job on your drive, replacing the clutch is £395, I’d expect a little extra for freeing up the clutch arm.

Re: after market parts

Here in Germany the situation is quite similar, officially you will need either a certificate or a type approval number (e-number) stamped into the part itself. Some stations are quite fussy, others look at it in a more - uhm - “liberal” kind of way. I simply don’t use the fussy ones any more …

You finally got there, congrats

This is actually a bit awkward atm Kasper, after having driven properly for six years – and sitting on the wrong side now … but I think I’ll cope

Re: Another one saved …

That would taste a bit of false laurels, Charles, with only 50 of them done myself so far. I think at least ⅓ “own ones” should be the limit. But did you realise that I’m now finally playing in your league, Admiral? This one actually makes it three. 8-) :D Anyway, if everything goes to plan, I...

Another one saved …

Well, after the first 50-ish miles I think I can now dare to proclaim this one as saved: vorne.jpg It had been offered to me for breaking due to a snapped cam belt. With friendly help from our forum, the transport and intermediate storage could be organised. In early October I finally had the car wi...

Re: Random Horn sounding

Good choice. The Pektron BCU (body control unit) fitted to your car is a bit problematic when it comes to battery drain. There are known cases where a battery going flat whilst the immobiliser was armed (i e the car is locked) actually bricked the unit and the car could not be started anymore, even ...

Mrs Peebody doing it again …

Hi folks, as some of you will remember, I had named my Wedgewood SE Stepspeed “Mrs Peebody” due to some considerable coolant leaks. This has now apparently been cured, after resealing the liners, changing the inlet manifold (not just the gasket), and fitting s/s underbody pipes. But obviously she is...

18-20 Aug 2017 - 6th Niederrhein Tour

For the sixth time, the Niederrhein Tour will take place in August 2017. This time it will be about the regional development from rural life and home craftsmanship to industrialisation. We will also drive some routes, naturally, about 30 miles on the Friday, 150 miles on the Saturday (in three parts...

Re: Lost electrics

Could be a problem with the ignition switch. I had similar symptoms once and it turned to be a failing switch. Actually in pos 2 there are two switched circuits on the F and TF.
