Re: wiper for the hardtop window

… but I'm not about to try this unless somebody has trodden the same path before me! … I dont want to start on a whole new venture if its virgin territory! Blimey, where has that famous British exploratory spirit gone? It’s your idea, so step in the shoes of Brunel, Livingstone and all the ot...

Re: Disaster

@Kjeld: feel free to call me whenever you need assistance! Do you still have my number? But the fix is quite easy once the head is off. Just make sure everything is clean and remember to allow the Hylomar to settle for about 10 minutes before putting the liners back in their seats. Otherwise the sol...

Re: MG TF Unstable, nervous handling

I thought the Toyo problems were related to a change of production lines from Japan to Malaysia in September 2014? These caused a lot of drivability issues, as also the interior design or materials used were slightly altered on transferring, leading to instabilities especially when newer Malaysian t...

Re: MG TF Unstable, nervous handling

First step: Jack up front of car (there’s a central jacking point on the front subframe, just below the radiator) and have a close look at wheel bearings, track rod ends and ball joints for any play or wear. Second step: repeat this on the rear end, sadly the TF has lost the central jacking point wh...

Yes, Charles, Markus (aka as “the Gasket King”) was on board with me. We often take a slightly different approach to things now, trying out new solutions and easier ways to fix things.

Re: Disaster

Hi Kjeld, sorry to read about your problems, but haven’t we all been there before? So chins up, it should be manageable to fix it. From your description (tank empty water escaped into the sump) I doubt it’s either of the gaskets’ fault, especially if you have an MLS head gasket fitted. To me this hi...

Re: seat wiring advice following seat swap

Do I get it correctly that you have the yellow connectors on the car and red ones on the seats? Attached you find the pin out (face view) for the red connectors on the car, so you can compare the cavity positions to their counterparts on the seats and allocate them correctly. As the colours are code...

Re: Driving in France? You might need a sticker ??

Here you go, Col: French environmental zones map . But as you said, don't buy the sticker there, the related shop is one of the scam sites you mentioned above. Why can't we have one single sticker for all of Europe, with - for example - just a "D4" for a Euro 4 diesel or "P3" for...

Wot? Your original seats didn't have seat belt tensioners fitted? How did you manage to buckle up then??

Re: You know it’s too fricking cold …

Engine started on first turn of the key no problem … on a 20 year old car with 180,000 miles on the clock! Btw it took the rev counter 3 miles to rise that high, before that it simply stayed at zero.

Re: Stepspeed? What to look out for ??

I had one for 3 years, bought at 60,000 miles and drove it happily until end of last year, covering some 45,000 miles with it. Total fun to drive, filter and oil changes regularly. Two issues spring to mind why I probably won’t get another one: First, the input shaft seal went after 100,000 miles, f...

Re: Engine light, help please

Also p0141 hints to the post cat sensor, the one in the 90 degree angle to the left of the cat. Can be a pain to remove. I usually cut the wires (unplug first!), put a “specially designed” 22mm ring spanner (other end cut off to slide on extension) onto the sensors hex bottom, heat up with a gas tor...

“NA 01/01” means “the monitor is not supported on this vehicle”. Such a shame, I was just over in Essex on Saturday and had my PScan with me. But I’m sure someone local will also have one to help you out.

Re: Oil change

Don’t you have budget change & refill stations in the UK? Since I found a company called “Mac Oil” here in Germany with the next station just 20 miles from home, I’m not getting my hands dirty on oil changes anymore. They offer an oil change including the necessary amount of Shell Helix HX6 10W-...

If it were a Reliant Robin with a VVC engine, that would make sense!
