Re: 135 TF cams in an F

PS - linishing - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linish :) Ha ha, Ive just come to terms with "lapping" after having to do some valves, now another one gets added to my "knowlwdge" OK, will chat with insurance co first, then if OK, will maybe get in touch with Dave Andrews. 15bhp you say, add to 52mm ...

Re: 135 TF cams in an F

you can certainly reuse the existing hydraulic followers (tappets) so long as you linish them, Cheers Rob. I am hoping thats a typo of sorts, as I ahve no idea what linishing means  Having just done a HGF and some valve work myself, I know its easy enough to replace lifters etc. but springs ar...

Re: 135 TF cams in an F

Pretty much, yes, as the 135 cams also have the reluctor ring to enable the MEMS3 style of cam timing sensing :) It'll be plug and play for you Broon and I doubt that fuelling will be an issue, but as MEMS3 cars use smaller injectors than those that are MEMS1.9/2J equipped it may be worth looking o...

Re: An Interesting Conundrum

Last week my car developed a rattle which we think might be the cat, then this week I was driving down the motorway when my speedo went (curiously at 699999.9 - is this an MG curse number????), and then a warning light came on (the triangle with the round lines around it) which I didn't know what i...

Re: mg.org user selling those rare alloys =)

They are very rare for the same reason the City Rover is rare - towit 'orribly cheap and nasty! Cost cutting gone mad just before MGR's merciful release! NO, they are rare becuase only 90 were made. Whats that got to do with their "cheap and nastiness"? Cheap and nasty stuff tends to be made in mas...

Re: How much fuel in a 50litre tank?

Yes and yes  I got a can and some fuel for a garage and added it . When I turned key it gurgled and made funny noises for a bit, then once the noises stopped I turned her over and started after a few turns. I changed the filter afterwards as my performance was bad after HGF was fixed, and It wa...

Re: Who knows we're here?

I suppose the chances of an average MGTF owner being interested in classic cars to buy a magazine though cant be that high?

Just speaking personally. I would never have bought a classi car mag, and only knew about this site through the .org.

I was chatting to Thierry some while ago about setting up a wikipedia type archive of technical material. The person responsible for keeping honest could be the register's technical rep. However, we are all amateurs who like fiddling, not automotive engineers, so there is plenty of potential to get...
