Cheers John.
No I don't have the F anymore, I just repair it for the daughter. That's why I'm not around as much. Cheers for the info.

Many thanks Rob and to you as well Mykel. Fingers crossed it is the simpler of the two and maybe just as well replacing cam belt at the same time.

Oil Leak
I have an oil leak that appears from the mess, to be coming from behind the front pulley and I'm assuming it needs a new crankshaft oil seal. Is this a hard job to do? Any advice would be most welcome.

Re: Replacing n/side door mirror
Thanks Mykel. Super to hear from you. Yes I found one in CDX [copperleaf] but I just cut the wires and re-soldered them to the new one and pushed them back into the door cavity. Heath Robinson, I know, but it was done in less than an hour in near darkness and is working fine. But thanks for the inpu...

Re: Replacing n/side door mirror
Yes me too. 18 years with Pony Express which eventually became DHL. But there are more parcel firms out there nowadays, even Royal Mail, so surely someone could list Saturday as a normal day. Gone are the days of 5 day working, even shops are open 7 days now. Still the mirror arrived this morning [t...

Re: Replacing n/side door mirror
Many thanks Rob. I'm waiting for the spare to be delivered. Something else I've noticed, not anything to do with MGF's, but getting parts delivered on a Saturday. When suppliers say 'next day delivery' it does not include a Saturday, except for an increased delivery rate. "I love MG's" told me it wo...

Replacing n/side door mirror
The n/s door mirror has now decided to break free. It appears that the spring anchor on the door has disintegrated. So any help on removing and replacing would be much appreciated. Our mirror is adjusted by electric.

Re: Dashboard Engine light is on.
Many thanks for your help and advice guys on this dashboard light problem. After spending a tenner on a Reader off ebay, the light decides to go off. All on it's own, no help from me whatsoever. Isn't it frustrating. Well I jacked up the o/s rear to see the sensors and the shield covering the wires ...

Re: Dashboard Engine light is on.
Cheers lads. I have a phone. It has bluetooth, but the rest no. So I can rule that out. But I would like your advice on the Readers on EBAY. If you have a spare minute, I would appreciate the best one to buy, if any.
Thanks again

Re: Dashboard Engine light is on.
Many thanks guys for all your help and advice. Sorry I'm late replying. You too John, you have been a good help over the years. I've noticed I can buy a reader on ebay for £20 or so. I think as the motor is getting older it may be a good investment. It would help me if I knew the make, model etc. An...

Re: Dashboard Engine light is on.
Thank you so much for what you have done already. One question though. Will I need to find a garage with a specific computer to diagnose my fault? I'm thinking that a Ford garage will not have the machine for my car. Does it have a name or number, so when I phone around I can ask, "Do you have a abc...

Thanks for the very quick reply. I'll have to find a garage with the computer to let me know what the fault is.

I have checked oil, thats ok and no water in oil. Apart from that, or maybe the oil and filter need changing, I'm lost. Can anyone offer me an explanation and remedy.

Re: Shock Absorbers
Cheers Rob for the info on the service sheet and cam belt renewal. As for the shocks, I opted for Munroe oil filled [made in Spain] and the numbers for the front are R1646 and for the rear R1647. Mine were supplied p&p free from Mr.Auto [based in Belgium] and they had problems with delivering my ord...

Re: Shock Absorbers
Rob These are Monroe oil filled shocks. similar to the Suplex type. As for the same spec, I really don't know. I have read the horror stories on here about the mounting's needing re-reinforcing with other type of shocks, so I kept to the oil filled. The back have been done and there is a noticeable ...

Re: Shock Absorbers
I was surprised too Rob, that the Shocks that came with Suplex needed changing, but I remember a conversation with the guy who designed the Suplex Suspension, telling me that the shocks came from China. But they did or at least the front 2 did according to the advisory, but the backs were also in a ...

Re: Shock Absorbers
I bought 4 Munroe shocks from a firm called Mr Auto. Waited more than a week for them to come [it appears] from Germany. The parcel was damaged and inside were 3 Monroe and 1 KYB Gas Shock. Less than pleased, so the KYB has gone back to Germany and I'm waiting for 1 front Monroe. I was able to chang...

Shock Absorbers
Hi. My MGF has just been through it's MoT and has an advisory on the front shocks. Now these shocks came with the Suplex Suspension kit and the whole system is more than 3 years old and done approximately 30k and never given me any trouble, which I'm very pleased about. So the question is, what are ...

Re: MGF Handbrake
Thank you for your advice.
I thought I saw in the manual an automatic adjuster mentioned. The brakes work fine on the foot pedal, that is why I ruled out a seized caliper. I'm off for 2 weeks now so I will have a closer look.
Many thanks again.
