Re: Engine bay fan

After my journey I switch off the car and the fan starts running after about 10 seconds. Never done it before and just noticed it in the last week or two. Had the TF 12 months this week coming so maybe it's just started to work correctly?

Engine bay fan

I've noticed that after a short journey once parked up the engine bay fan starts running. I'm assuming that the sensor in the engine bay is at fault. Coolant level is correct and fan runs for a few minutes. Is it better to fix or just leave to aid cooling?

Re: Hood lowering

As already posted make sure the rails are moving as they should. You can buy a strap kit relatively cheaply to attach to give the roof it's original operation back but it's not something that's ever bothered me

My TF

Not posted for a while, so many different forums it's hard to keep up without duplicating posts :) I bought a 1.6 TF and have spent a few weeks upgrading stuff. I have fitted the standard speaker box under the T bar and fitted Alpine speakers to it which made a massive difference. I have standard sp...

Body work

I've had a quote from the bodyshop of £80 to do the worst arch edge which I thought was a little steep? I'm thinking that ideally all four edges need doing and due to the cost of four I might have a go myself. Never repaired anything like this so what's the best way? Rub down, primer under seal and ...

Body work

Cleaned the TF yesterday and noticed surface rust starting to show on the sill front and rear edges, this looks easy to sort by getting it rubbed down and reprinted, I guess it's caused by road debris. It also looks like there is very slight corrosion appearing in the front arch to sill seam which i...

I am not sure how "advanced" it is. It has been around for over 50 years. I have been using it for that long.
That's what MGR called the spec ;)

Re: so what did everyone else drive before their mgf/tf?

Too many to list but some of the nicer ones include
Two classic mini coopers
Two XR2's
Nova GTE

Currently have :-
mini Cooper S
Rover 75 tourer
MG TF (to replace the cooper S as a daily driver)

Re: Liners

I doubt the tappety noise is the liner to be honesty. The liner protrusion for 1.6 and 1.8 engines is 0 to 0.10mm and the liners are sealed with advanced formulation hylomar or hylomar universal light grade sealants around the step of the liner

Re: Noisy?

Changed the oil today and what came out was like new, I suspect the last owner had it changed before selling it. I couldn't get any mtf94 so I just used 75-90. A work colleague took the car for a run and his opinion was that I'm being overly fussy :) I think I will try and ignore it until it needs a...
