Thanks guys - it has generated alot of discussion and I'm sure others have benefitted by this as well.
I spoke to my friend and she's taken 'the resister' out of the Air Sensor Plug!
I like Colin's idea QUOTE: "stick to edible chips and you cant go wrong".
Cheers Robbo.

Re: Do chips work?
WOW! How quick was that to get a response. Thanks guys. Yes, I'd say it is a resister that I'm talking about - a $5 touch. I'll have to let my friend know ASAP as she's just spent AUST$14,000 putting a new engine in. Does re-mapping the ECU mean you have to buy a 'superchip' OR just get the existing...

Do chips work?
I have a friend who bought a diode looking thing that goes into the lead to the Air Sensor. It's supposed to 'trick' the computor into giving the engine more fuel???
My friend says it has made her VVC 'fly'!
Does anyone know if these things are worth it or can damage the computor please?
Cheers Robbo

Too much sun in Perth
I was just wondering if anyone from over the East Seaboard could kindly send us some rain to Perth? We haven't had any rain now since the beginning of November & I've forgotten what it even looks like. I have had the hood down since November and can't get it up as it's now frozen in the down positio...

Re: thermostat
Hi there mgtfnut - Happy New Year to all. I think you have it all correct. When fitting the PRT to earlier than my03 cars - it's very important to remove the thermo (that's the thermo near the head) and insert a ring in the housing. The connection of the HOT water FROM the engine should go to the TO...

Re: MGTF Cooling System issues after HGF
Hi DJM - As 'mgtfnut' has said is all very correct. Interesting question is, as he's also asked, what year is your car and is it a 160? If it's a 2003 onwards it should have a PRT (thermostat), and only 160's have oil coolers. I ititerate what 'mgtfnut' has said about taking the cap off while hot BU...

Re: air lock somewhere maybe?
I think 'mgtfnut' has the fix - bleed the system and bleed it again. It's amazing how long it takes. Are you bleeding from the 3 bleed points? It's quite like bleeding brake systems - never let the tank run dry of fluid, otherwise yuh gotta start again! If you were to loosen the tank cap while hot (...

Re: 2003 MGTF Rear Suspension Problem
Some really GOOD info from DEBS regarding this thread. I've just fitted the VHS 'Comfort Ride' kit to my 2004 MGTF 160. They are absolutely GREAT! For some reason though, it raised the height of the car 8 tp 10mm!!!??? When I removed the original lower bolt there was several things I noted: The whol...

Re: thermostat
Point taken - good one. What I was mainly getting at here was that owners of MGF's (in particular) must (if they are fitting the PRT to their car) is to get the connection the right way. I.e. As in Jonaf's picture of the fittment of the PRT - this is for the MGF. If you are fitting one to the later ...

Re: thermostat
To my understanding - The 'crossflow' radiator bit really does not have any bearing on the 'flow' really, to compared with a 'normal' radiator. The important thing is that the HOT (into the radiator) pipe is connected to the TOP of the plenim chamber and the COLD water back to the engine is connecte...

Re: thermostat
Just to continue this thread a little further. I see by jonaf's diagram of the positioning of the remote PRT is for an MGF. Please corret me if I'm wrong - On the MGF the 'HOT' water to the radiator travels along the LH underfloor metal tube to the BOTTOM of the radiator & the 'COLD' water (as in hi...

Re: Air induction???? which one????
Just to 'put a spanner in the works' - I've fitted a K & N Apollo fully enclosed cold air ducted filter. Fits in neat & tidy, but you have top make up a bracket for it. The open end of duct fits nicely in the LHS engine bay inlet duct in the side of the car - this gives plenty of good clean cold (ou...

Re: thermostat
Just to inform you all - I've now purchased an 82 DegC PRT from Brown & Gammons for GBP20.56 Pt No PEL 500. It looks (by thier web site) a dark grey colour/almost black. So, thanks to members for the info. One thing I did find out though, is that the Elise crowd go for the metal PRT. It would've bee...

82 DegC PRT?
I'm sure this topic has been brought up before. Because it gets very hot here in Western Australia, I'm wanting to change the PRT Thermostat to a lower figure in my 2004 MGTF - ie 82DegC one. Does anyone know of such a beast please. When I phone an MG Rover/Leyland spare parts, they say no, with the...

Well, thanks to you all for bearing with me on this one.
Not all TF owners are as thick as I am!!!!
A good outcome then, as I nhow know that my car has 'Standard suspension'.
Cheers & thanks - Robbo.

Re: thermostat
Hi Allan - a very good mod is to remove the thermo completely and insert a ring in it's place. Go to a Landrover spares place and buy a thermostat for the K serries engined Freelander. The thermo is the same as fitted to the 2003 cars onwards. Plumb it in aft of the two steel pipes that go under the...

Re: PROBLEM FITTING REAR SPEAKERS WITH MK3 BOXTER HOOPS HELP!
Hi - forgot you have an F - and of course they didn't come with speakers. In my car (MGTF) I had to leave the total plastice AND steel cross bar out (The one the speakers were orinally fitted to) when fitting the Mike Satur Roll Hoops. Hope it works out nfor you.
Cheers Robbo.
