Re: Handbrake warning light switch

Shame Rob that you had to remove Redarrows technical advice as I thought some of it was quite funny although not correct. Maybe we could set up a seperately blog page with his and others technical advice which was either funny, not exactly true or down right dangerous. As long as everyone knows it i...

Re: Handbrake warning light switch

Santab. Ignore everything that redarrow has said in this forum and please read my input on page one. This is 99% a problem with your switch which is not connecting with the handbrake handle fully and therefor when released it vibrates against the switch and the light flickers. This light is not conn...

Re: Leak from Glove Box area - how to solve please??!!

With regards to leaks behind the glove box and in the drivers foot well I have just spent two days sorting out the wife's 1998 MFG. The problems started with wet carpets so these were removed but first the seats have to come out. A good thing really as this allowed me to lie in the foot well with a ...

Re: MGF Not Starting - starter clicks, Windows slow to opera

Had a similar problem recently. With mine the battery was fine. The starter was ticking as you described but it was intermittent. The car failed to start on the key but would bump start. Then five mins later would start on the key. Took the starter out (Bugger of a job) and had it refurbished. Put i...

Re: Handbrake warning light switch

Thanks for the reply Geoff but we are talking about the hand brake warning light coming on which is operated by a micro switch which indicates whether the hand brake handle is up or down and does not indicate in anyway that your brakes are failing or that your hand brake needs adjusting. As stated t...

For anyone in the Torquay area of Devon I have access to a pump and can do it for free as long as you supply the Hydrogas fluid. Rob.C. :thumbsu:

Re: Handbrake warning light switch

Redarrow you are making a problem where one might not exist. I agree if the hand brake seizes up it will be dangerous but this is still a micro switch problem which causes the light to flash on and off when going over bumps because of play between the handle and the switch. If the light switch was o...

Re: Handbrake warning light switch

Hi guys. I am new to this forum having just bought an MGF for the wife. Only paid £350 for it (Head Gasket gone) but I now have to go through it and fix all the little nigglely faults, which is why this forum is so good. My wifes hand brake light was also coming on as described in this section. I sa...
