Re: TF VIN

Ah cool- nice early car!

The VIN for the TF broke with Abingdon tradition of starting at 251 and started at 101- just pm'd you as don't want to start throwing vin numbers about etc.

Re: specialist to sort window seal needed

On my car the leak down the speakers actually came through via the door mirror- door mirror support (the black triangle on the a-pillar) out of alignment, actually caused (and made far worse!) by adjusting the window thinking that was out of alignment. The leak down the...

Re: Flip Top Re-Spray

You'll need a very good paint shop for that colour- if you're willing to cross the border into the badlands of Hertfordshire, I was recommended and used these guys a few years back on my TF160, they did a first class job. The calibre of cars they had in their workshop were all reassuringly very expe...

Re: MGF rattly engine?

Yep, it's the bearings on the VVC mechanisms- the slightest bit of wear translates into an unholy tractoresque clanking and the only way to cure this is to swap out and exchange the VVC mechanisms- Brown and Gammons were looking into having the troublesome bearings remanufactured and uprated, but th...

Re: Blue soft top

I have an original blue soft top on a frame, came of my pre-production TF- perfect screen one tiny wear hole but fully waterproof- would let it go for a fair price to a good home

Re: replacing thermostat

Sorry to hear of your woes Daz and hope all will be fixed and running beautifully soon. it sounds like you've saved this car from the previous owner and are paying the price for their neglect/bad maintenance. Rob's site as ever is very informative on the subject: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2...

Re: tar remove help

WD40 on a rag or any oily product will do the trick- it basically dilutes the tar down to an oily residue that can just be wiped away.

Undersealing- job done

The gara...

Sorry to hear of the car being damaged...Old English White with a red interior always looks stunning...only ever seen one TF in that creamy white. Personally though, I'd keep it Pearl Black- the car looks great as it is

I'd try Martin Smith first off- keeps a really good stock of used parts and an avid supporter of the register http://www.usedmgtfspares.co.uk/
