Re: MGF key FOB woes

If you are a garage I suggest you acquire a PSCAN or T300 as you will benefit from all its options including being able to program new key fobs I presume you will at some stage wish to sell the car then service it. An OBD2 scanner will not be of any use with an early MEMS ECU Also the PSCAN is regis...

Re: Mgf auto

My guess is that you may have mismatched loom connections when refitting The gearbox connector close to where the coolant hoses connect is the same pattern as one of the connections at the back of the throttle body Try swapping them over, There is not a lot of difference in loom length and they are ...

Re: OBD Socket

Phillip Your prototype is looking professional for sure. Have you considered how it would connect to the mini SPi data interface which is a 3 pin for the ECU and a separate connector for the 5AS. :sf: It would obviously require a different lead to your blackbox. I note on the Sykes Pickavant ACR sys...

Re: Pulling to the right under hard braking

Just a thought..
When was your brake fluid last changed?
If it was some years ago it may have degraded with moisture, which then boils off when heated from braking, reducing the brake effort on one or more calipers and causing an uneven braking effect.

Re: 500 miles @ 46mpg

I took 2 of my MGF Mpi's from Edmonton in Alberta to MG2013 at Corvallis in Oregon. A round trip of 2500 miles. My son was driving the second car... before any wisecracks.. Every fuel fill was recorded and both achieved 47.6Mpg We had a fairly steady drive down but a rapid return trip at 75+ most of...

Re: Headlamps

You can convert your RHD headlamps to LHD by switching and reversing the lens from L to R and Vice Versa.
Takes about 30 mins if you are reasonably well versed in removing and replacing the front bumper

Re: Is the "F" a sports car (to you)?

A sports car will always put a smile on your face when put through its paces I am usually grinning like a Cheshire cat when I come home after a run. In my recent foray south of the Border, I gave quite a few US old school MG owners their first opportunity to drive an F. Now have you seen a smile as ...

I have just returned from a short hop down to Corvallis in Oregon from Edmonton in Alberta We went to MG2013 a US National meet. I took 2 1995 Mpi s and recorded just over 47mpg from both. :thumbsu: My son was driving the second one before you ask. As for temperature about half the journey exceeded ...

Re: MGF water leak.

I had a similar issue with coolant loss recently and my initial thoughts were inlet manifold gasket.. that was replaced but the real culprit was the thermostat housing.. the thermostat sealing ring had hardened and failed causing weeping at the centre joint.. the O rings were also hardened, whilst y...

Re: Christmas 2012

Thanks Colin

Whilst we have plenty of snow it is also dry, unlike most of the UK.
But if you can arrange for an army of mops for the New Year we might just find some dry roads around Plymouth next month.
We will be around then in our UK based F visiting family and friends.

Happy New Year

Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings to all. I'd like to say we went out for a top down drive yesterday but my thermometer here in Alberta said -22C which was a tad too chilly! :santasack: :santax2: Thats not to say we won't be out in my mean machine for one last jaunt before the year expires.... t...

Re: Canada Coast to Coast Meeting

I suppose if Orange was going to be the main colour we should arrange it as a Fall Colors run

I will also have an Orange F here next year, though not in Volcano. it is a UK Ford ST pearlescent colour :P Nice all the same!

Canada Coast to Coast Meeting

I don't know if any of you are up for this, but I suspect some of you will be. I have put on about 1500 miles already in the F's and just can't get enough of the fun and looks because of the RHD I am suggesting that we try to have a meeting of our cars sometime next year. perhaps even a bit of a tou...

I know Japanese immobiliser Fobs used a different frequency from UK ones, so you have specify frequency if you order a new one.

Re: A Volcano has erupted in CANADA

Rich I have just done the mod for my OOP inspection in AB, I had sourced an old LHD set of Headlamps and was going to do a straight swap but the silvering was pretty poor so next option I thought was to swap the lenses. But nothing is ever easy, the Tabs on the Lenses do not match RHD Lenses, so bac...
