Re: Pektron System

I have the CTEK 0.8 and can't praise it enough. As they say you get what you pay for CTEK are one of the best but it comes at a price :D A trickle charger doesn't do the same as a battery conditioner, I've had an Optimate which are on a par with CTEK hooked up to various motorbikes for the last 11yr...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

He replaced the relays in the SCU. His advice was to replace all of them as the others would fail too.

Re: Another Central locking issue...

Thanks for the info Nick. Now that it is drivable is this something you can deal with? I have looked at my tools and don't possess the correct torx bit and to be honest I still wouldn't be able to do anything with the SCU in my hand. May be I can contact you and fix a time when you can have a look? ...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

No it seems ok, only one of the levers seems to work with the key and it spins freely. I can't see whats wrong with it unless the bit around the key has broken in some way.

Now I have access to the door I will investigate more fully.

Update, I have gained access to the interior now thanks to Daz, cheers mate.

The doors are still firmly locked so that's the next task.

Re: Another Central locking issue...

Car starts fine and have turned it rounds so I can now access the drivers door. I managed to get the trim off from the window to door seal so can see the levers behind the door lock. At worst I can now drive it some where to have it looked at. My next question is will flicking one of the rods in the...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

So thanks to Daz for the PM I am now able to access the interior of the car. What a relief that is. The doors are firmly deadlocked so need to decide a course of action. Where is the SCU and can I remove it? The drivers door lock has now stopped working even with the key so will the fault be with th...

Re: Which is easier to replace?

Totally dedlocked, remote only flashes the lights. Drivers key does nothing, have disconnected the battery, pulled the fuse (ok) charged the battery, changed the key fob battery tried the spare fob and key.

I really don't want to break the glass.

Which is easier to replace?

So as I am now completely locked out of my TF I need to decide which will be easier to replace, the soft top or passenger side window glass. (http://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16879) I don't want to do either but there seems no other way to gain access, unless anyone can think of ...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

The 2005 has a glass rear window with no access to the velcro. Had it been a plastic one I would have knifed it by now! Annoyingly I have unclipped the drivers hood latch and if I could do the same on the passenger side I could drop the hood. I am completely bemused now. Really hating my TF at the m...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

So my day just got worse, both doors are firmly locked now. The drivers door wont open even with the key? As I type this I have the battery disconnected in the vain hope it may reset something.

I can't see away out of this other than with a brick or knife? I am really not sure what to do next?

Today I have been mostly trying to work out how to gain access to the passenger door which has become deadlocked with suspected SCU relay failure. Bummer!

Re: Another Central locking issue...

Feedback to the SCU is done via the driver’s door latch only (ie unlocked or locked). The SCU will assume the passenger door locks and then deadlocks as per the feedback from the driver’s latch. If you can disconnect the battery, unlock the driver’s door with the key, reconnect the battery, and mak...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

Thats my next plan! I have already been lying on the roof to try. My arms are too short really so need to have another go. I will try another day as I am too annoyed with it today. At least it can't be stolen or though that is tempting at the moment. I have been out and sprayed the door catch with W...

Re: Another Central locking issue...

Thank you for the quick reply. I pulled the fuse to the C/L and waited 30secs and it locked once then packed up. just indicators flashing. If I stretch I can get to the drivers door lock and unlock it with the key but nothing happens with the passenger door lock. Turning the key in the drivers lock ...

Another Central locking issue...

So typical, sunshine outside today and my late FT is playing me up. The passenger door is stuck locked, unlocking with the remote only flashed the indicators and turned the alarm off. Because I reverse into the garage my drivers door is 5-6 inches away from the wall so I exit via the passenge...
