Re: Whats Your Total Spend...And Be Honest

well over £12k thats just off the top of my head since purchase in 2000!! I do have a guaranteed value of £4.5k from the ins company which is not bad for a 1999 vvc. I still have to spend a bit more on it as it needs a few wee niggly things fixed but as I am not driving it just now ill leave spendin...

Re: S40 MGF Number Plate for Sale

" thats not true most plate companies tell you what you will get when i had mine valued it came back as worth 800 and they were prepared to pay me 400 of that with them paying any transfer fees which are minimal by the way so they earn a decent crust out of it if they offered you 750 it must be wor...

Re: Wandering Rear End

Well after claiming the loose bolt was responsible, the effect was short lived and the problem got worse. Gave in eventually and took it to a garage, failed wheel bearing big style. Now fixed and she's driving like a dream again! Now... Do I risk a 3000 mile round trip to Italy next year for my hon...

Re: wheels

Probably means it needs the tracking doing. Is a garage/tyre fitting job really. Front track is about £35ish or a full 4 wheel track is about £70ish. REALLY? I got mine done last Friday, front and rear for a total of £20!!! now I know it was getting done on the side but I never thought it would be ...

Re: HGF! Sewards Want £1700 to Repair!!!

£850 was around the figure I was thinking. I've spoken to Seward's and they've informed me that the actual price is £1700 without my discount. With discounts it's around £1300 including head removal and checking for flatness with skim if required and new type gasket as fitted to N series. Work full...

12.5.7. Open car with hoods may have them removed. Vehicles may run open or closed. If running closed, a rear window of safety glass or plastic of minimum thickness 4mm is mandatory. Does that mean one would have to replace the plastic screen on the F for something thicker? The rear screen cant be ...

Any MG friendly..........

Paint shops in the North Lanarkshire or Glasgow area that you know of? Thats everything done and ready for painting, cambelt service was the last thing to be done and a new set of 17" rims have been identified. I have deliberated for months over who to use / trust with doing a good paint job and hav...

Re: Battery Warning Light.

i wouldnt be too worried about driving it home mate as long as it was not a lot of miles. There could be other reasons mate but the alternator / belt sounds like the most likely, just try not to use lights blowers etc and have your AA card at the ready. You will find one of these fast fit garages ope...

Re: Driving in France (again !)

That is one less irate English Tourist on the French roads. Not a great loss. Geoff F. Not a great loss to either party. And it's "fewer" not "less". One fewer pedant with so much to do and so little time driven to irritability by Euro legislation. Fantastic stuff boys! the French would be pissing ...

Re: mgf suspension

I would doubt the garage would be a franchised rover dealer (are there any or have they all just kept it going as they were?) anyway if they were then due to there attitude towards their equipment I pesonally would be giving them a bodyswerve. Have you asked them why your suspension needs to have re...

cills

What can I do to take the bad look off my cills, they are marked where in the past garages have used trolley jacks to jack the car up. As I am reaching the final stages of the refurb before it goes for painting I would really like to sort this out. I have looked at side skirts but as they dont blend...

Re: is this normal?

Is or has the car been parked under any trees? my best guess is that is something as simple as some leaves or some other light debris, open the bonnet and have a wee look and see if you can see anything. The only other thing I can think of is a loose bit of rubber around the windscreen area as this ...
