hydragass suspension completely flat
Hi my mgf has been parked up over the winter sorn. Pulled it out the garage to clean it up and ready it for mot but suspension is flat. My issue is obviously that its not mot/tax/insured so cant take it onto the road at mo. Anyone around in derby able to help or know any mechanics that will come to ...

All Brake lights not working
Car just failed MOT for all 3 rear brake lights not working (2 standard and high level light on boot). Would also appears that the interior boot light is out and possibly the reverse light and I have the open boot lid warning light on the dash. There seems to be a number of posts on the tinternet re...

Re: Bonnet wont open
Yeah ive tried and tried. Metal plate that the handle sits on just bends. I suspect its the cold weather and its just seized up. Should probably put it in the garage and leave the A5 on the drive. Doubt it would reverse the situation now though.
thanks
thanks

Bonnet wont open
Hi all. Recognise this is a frequent posting and recognise the potential security issues - obviously one of those common faults but my bonnet wont open. Dont believe the cable is snapped as there is still tension. Tried pressing down on the bonnet whilst the wife pulled the handle without any joy. C...

Re: Battery (?) Problems
I have had the same issue 3 times in the last 12 months. I was puzzled as the battery seemed to work fine (was brand new when i bough car). The common denominator each time (or i think it was) was that it was cold/wet. I had noticed some water residue in the battery area also...... so I guessed that...

Re: HELP! Can't open the bonnet
Thanks Adrian. Must admit I've never put any 'lube' on the mechanism (never had to do it on any other car ive owned so never crossed my mind). Going to try the get someone to push on the area where the latch is whilst I pull the lever. If that fails then I suppose its off to the local bodyshop. If y...

Re: HELP! Can't open the bonnet
Help. I have the same issue. Car is running fine however I can't get into the bonnet as the cable lever seem's to have become loose (or is certainly not pulling to release teh latch. All I am succeeding in doing is bending the metal plate that the release handle pivots on in the boot. I'm guessing t...

Re: How to tell if HG has/or is going
thanks chaps. In reading many of the posts I had noted down a B&G low level alarm. That was going to be a question further down the line once I had put my mind at ease on the emission thing. Happy to pay out for water pump/belts as thats standard maintenance however dont want to pay 300+ for HG if i...

Re: How to tell if HG has/or is going
Yip on that one. Was going to get belts done when its on the road (probably wont get used to next summer). Just serviced it to clean it out prior to MOT. dont have tools/know how/ time to do the belts. I was just wondering IF the emissions were A typical of the type of car and whether I should make ...

Re: HOW MUCH DO YOU LOT PAY FOR NEW HEAD GASKET?
Here mate I'm new to MGFs having just got one last wk and have been browsing info on them. Came across reviews of this mobile mechanic that seems to have a lot of good reviews http://shop.ebay.co.uk/dave-kayleigh-2009/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562 (this link should take you to his ebay adverts). Quotin...

How to tell if HG has/or is going
Hi all. I've just bought a 2001 X 1.8 MGF with 65k on it. took a gamble as it came with no MOT/tax or history so not sure how well its been maintained. The body and interior are mint so seems well looked after. That said I serviced it myself today and it looks like it was long due, but it ticks over...

New member derby/derbyshire
Hi all. I've just taken a gamble and bought a 2001 1.8 MGF as a second car to scratch an itch of never owning a convertible. Know not a lot about cars I'm afraid however just managed to give it a full service myself (in advance of mot due next week - fingers crossed). Just wondering if there were an...
