Re: Early MGF oil temp sensor (for gauge)
I am guessing from your description that when you accelerate the needle drops to zero then recovers after a moment - I had that for a while on a Jan '96 F before the sensor expired altogether. I didn't have any trouble replacing it ten years ago - obviously different now. Good Luck! Yes, something ...

Early MGF oil temp sensor (for gauge)
Hi everyone I awn getting increasingly frustrated trying to source an Oil Temp sensor for my VERY early MGF. It is for the oil temp gauge and it is NOT the one with TWO terminal but just a single lug (I am assuming the ground is taken from the body of the sensor/mating with the engine). Does anyone ...

Also what's the price? I'd rather pay £15 and fiddle than pay like £40 for a cubby box, I'm young and poor To be honest can't remember but it will be closer to the £40 for sure. You would have to cut a hole in the back of the ZR ones as they are too deep and foul the cross member. So it would not b...

Hi all The cubby hole thingy is from a chap on Facebook - see below - very nice and a clean fit. The ZR cubby holes listed on eBay won't fit without fiddling - these are made to measure. I also fitted a fused connection to the battery with a plug terminating in the glove box to allow me to deploy a small solar panel to keep the battery topped up when parked up. I just tuck the panel out of the way in the glove box when not in use. I used the panel below from Maplin.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Whilst I was busy fitting things this weekend I also fitted one of the fibreglass cubby holes in place of the airbag blank. I went for Matt black as it complements the rest of the interior better than gloss.

I also fitted a pair of Red LED "ambient lights" into the bottom side of the rear view mirror - no photos yet but they provide a nice glow to the centre console during night time driving. :) Love the idea of this! What LED's are they and any chance of a how do? Thanks. Thanks - I could create one b...

Re: overheating issue (again)
Heater is on a bypass circuit, and will get hot irrespective of the thermostat function. A cold heater means no water flow - which probably means that there is an air lock in the system Bertl, as it is the most common and therefore most likely cause. But if there is next to no flow through the cool...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Today I fitted this Alpine 2ch amp which I picked up in Madrid from a market at €12! It was a bit battered so I sprayed it up with some gun metal grey spray I happened to have, I then wired it in behind passenger seat (forget the bunched up carpet need to trim cables to fit was just testing overall ...

Re: Oil temp guage problem
So, fitted new battery and starts ok etc. Alternator is charging as it should. The oil temp gauge does creep up but not all the way and still dips on revving - even when stationary - I reseated connectors at back of the gauge with no effect, but I suspect it may be a dead/dying gauge. Now need to so...

Couldn't check this as my battery which was ailing (needing charging more and more often) died on me today. Going to check that the alternator is doing its job but I think I need a new battery first - then will check ...

Re: Oil temp guage problem
Thanks - I'll start with the wiring first (perhaps loose?) - then, where is the temp sender? is it next to the Oil Filter somewhere?
