Re: So the journey begins for Team Turbo!
"By the way, although an alloy sump is fitted, a real gasket had been used to seal off the sump. Afaik this is only used on the steel sumps, isn’t it? Well, I’ll be using the proper sealant when I put it back on." Just to say that the standard 1.8T fitted to 75 & ZT had a single shim sump gasket fit...

Yes both gaskets compatible with K Series image.jpeg Tab identifying original two piece MLS design as used in the N Series engine (there is just one tab under the water elbo) image.jpeg Tab with brass rivet identifying one piece MLS design as used in the TCi-Tech engine (there are 4 of these tabs in...

Re: Stepy flywheel damper assy
The modified TV Damper is a must - a transformation over the MG Rover part. Fitting it is a major exercise as the transmission is quite bulky, the Approved method is to drop the whole lot out then lift the whole power unit out of the subframe before splitting the transmission from the engine...

Re: Now a member of the MONOGRAM Club ;-)
Totally love the colour combination! Green hood too! Can confirm the mirror, CDL,rear speaker, front tweeter and microwave sensor wiring will all be present. All straight forward conversations with the exception of the CDL, this will require two door latches and the software on the Pektron SCU to be...

Re: Mems3 mapping
If the Ecu is not original to your car, then I would certainly send it with a note with your VIN and if your car has ABS and air conditioning fitted or not. Hopefully he'll be able to sort that out for you.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Ok, well if you're taking the car and Ecu to ZandF, then hopefully he will start from scratch and make sure the VIN is correct along with the other configuration info from the car as well as the go faster bit and security resynchronise.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Well, spoke to Trophy Cars today who said my Pektron couldn't be matched to my 160 ecu, but they did make an offer on the car. Then spoke to Mark at Z&F who said no probs and I also settled on having the re-map done at the same time. Costs a bit more, but lots less hassle for me. Interesting statem...

Yep, spot on....cavaddict wrote:Hmmmm, the 160 ecu I have is the one for the engine, but I don't have the matched 5as unit. So, what you're saying is, I can have my 135 5as unit reprogrammed to suit my 160 ecu?

Re: Mems3 mapping
As talking cars says, but a little info further you will have to go back to the original VVC ecu, as the 135 ecu does not have the hardware to drive the VVC advance and retard hydraforce solenoids, so at the moment you'll be well down on power. There are also many other mechanical differences that w...

Re: N-Series head gasket source?
The TF N Series engine uses the MLS gasket with separate shim with identification tag under the water elbow. This is available as a gasket set with bearing ladder and all other top end gaskets included, part number ZUA000080. However there are no head bolts included ( which are perfectly reusable on...

Re: Runs around Fussen in Bavaria.
The area around Füssen Germany and into Austria is stunning, with some excellent driving roads. The drive from Füssen to Innsbruck has to be done via the Fernpass, which tops out at 1200 meters (not very high as far as alpine passes go but an excellent road nevertheless!). If you pass through Füssen...

The TF 135 and the case of the missing 8mm socket
The TF 135 and the case of the missing 8mm socket During a "routine" cylinder head gasket change I managed to drop an 8mm socket in the engine bay on the cam belt side. The usual clatter and tingle as it made its way to the bottom, but it did not land on the floor... The engine was still going back ...

Re: What is this part?
It’s a small fluid trap to collect oil vapour etc normally found within the inlet manifold. On early MEMS cars like the Rover 214 the factory just fitted the bare vacuum pipe from the manifold to the ECU, over a period of time they became blocked with the associated running problems. The “Fuel Trap”...

Re: Cam belt change
I see from the photos above that the cam belt tensioner is incorrectly set up, the egg shaped cam that the 6mm Allen key engages with must point downwards, to tension correctly the Allen key is turned anti clockwise against the locking bolt which is turned clockwise.

Originally it was Unipart CVT Fluid, then when Unipart and Rover split, Esso EZL799 was stocked at MG Rover dealers in 20 litre containers. After the collapse of MG Rover, X-part eventually phased out the Esso oil to the new part number XPT002002OF, (1 litre bottles as Geoff says branded MG Rover) t...

Interesting photos of the damaged flywheel and starter motor! Don't think this is going to happen by operating the starter motor with the engine running... Worth noting you can not operate the starter motor in this way for cars built after VIN 620549...

Re: central locking issue????
I'll tread carefully here as your car maybe left hand drive! But if it's UK market right hand drive then it won't have central door locking, not even available as an option on MGF 1.6 cars. On the introduction of the TF 1.6 CDL was then fitted to left hand drive cars. if you car has a door lock on t...
