MGF Engine running but not driving

Hi,
Can anybody assist with this strange situation - driving MGF automatic along quiet road when there is a sudden clunk from the engine bay and whilst the car engine is running normal, there is no power to the rear wheels.

Gear selection is ok

Thanks.

Re: MGF Air Conditioning Relay

Thanks for the advice, but yes it was working in the past, and no difference on all fan speeds - but does anybody know if should I be able to detect by sound/feel the relay energizing?

Cheers

MGF Air Conditioning Relay

Hi, Nothing happens when I turn on the fan and push the AC button switch other than the AC button light illuminates and the fan works but no cold air. I would expect the relay to click and the compressor clutch to cut in. Can anybody advise a way of testing the YWB100800 AC relay or what I should be...

Re: Over Heating

i have seen a similar temperature issue when a radiator hose burst on my ute and there was no coolant left in the system hence sensor sitting in free air but that is not the situation here unless you are saying the coolant temperature is not above normal operating temperature but sufficiently high e...

Re: Over Heating

I think understand what you mean regarding the boiling point and need for a presurised tank but not to sure why the coolant temp gauge does not reflect the rise in temperature

Re: Over Heating

-Oil on dip stick clean

-Expansion cap is clean

-Oil filler cap is clean

I will take your advice and purchase new expansion caps and see how we go.

I will advise on the outcome.

Many thanks.

Re: Over Heating

Hi Nigel, Thanks for your response. The answer is : - Dont know the age of the tank but it is probably old or original - Radiator fans do come on - I have bled the system at the three points - this seems all ok. It seems strange to me that the level of fluid in the expansion tank seems to increase s...

Over Heating

I have a MGF (sept 2001) which has recently started over heating. It is fine on short 5kms runs - to the local shop and back (high ambient teperatures here 35-40C) but anything much longer and the expasion tank fills up and fluid is forced out through the lid. The coolant temp gauge does not rise ab...
