Well my misting rears didn't even get a mention in the latest MOT. I'll not worry for another year or so.

Re: Shock Absorber Replacement
I have the same misting issue on my 2001 F. What is a garage likely to charge me to do the job? It's just the rears that are misting. They've been like that for two MOTs

Re: Ticking or clicking noise from the front...
I'm tempting fate. The noise appears to have gone. It's not been heard in the last few days. All the fans have been working.
I'll have jinxed it now!

Re: What would air in the cooling system sound like?
It happens when the car is up to temp, stationary and moving. I've had a string of Fs and TFs for nearly a decade and I've never heard this. Never had SS pipes before. They were fitted last year and the car is used - lightly - all year round. It's only just started. The weathers been hot but the gau...

What would air in the cooling system sound like?
I still have this mystery sound in the F. A click, or a knock. Sounds like a noise you get from a house radiator when it heats up. I did think it was the front fan sticking but I know this works. The noise is under the car. Probably on the left. It's got SS pipes which were new last year. I'm not lo...

Ticking or clicking noise from the front...
It's a 2001 MPI F, no air con or ABS. There's a strange click coming from somewhere in the front of the car. It's not speed related as I get it when moving or stationary. The best way to describe it is that it's like the sound of a car with ACC when it clicks on and off. The other day in the heat, t...

Re: Wanted - 4 steel wheels
I asked the question about the wheels elsewhere here.
It never occurred to me 14s would work. I thought the newer speed limited.
Probably the easy option.
What about centre caps? And being 14 would you need a higher profile tyre?

Re: Weller Formula Ford on an F?
Cheers for that. I thought MGF wheels were the same fitting as older BL cars like Triumphs.

Weller Formula Ford on an F?
I know very little about wheels but I've a hankering after some steel wheels on my F. I quite like the retro looks it could create. I'm imagining something like a TR6 wheel. Weller appear to do steel wheels. Would some fit in the F with its BLMC heritage bolt arrangement? I'm thinking 15 inch wheels...

Re: Wanted - 4 steel wheels
So, what happened? Doing a Google search as I'm having the same idea and I ended up here. Did you get the cream wheels with centre caps? I've got some gorgeous returned Troohy wheels on my gold F but maybe for winter in thinking steels. Powder coated silver with perhaps black in the centre - like yo...

Re: Rear shock absorber replacement. Likely cost?
Thanks for the advice - and explanation of how adjustable shock absorbers work. As it's just an advisory, I think I'll just keep it in mind. The car, which is on 16 inch Trophys and Toyos handles fine. It' I get an occasional squeak from the back end - drivers side - but the car has done thus for ye...

Re: Rear shock absorber replacement. Likely cost?
Thanks for the replies. The cars got 58,000 on the clock. Light misting is an odd phrase. It's either broken or it's not. So it's a 300 quid job more or less? I'm going to come across as a real ignoramus here but what's the advantage of adjustable shock absorbers? Is it the firmness or ride height? ...

Rear shock absorber replacement. Likely cost?
Hello. The good news is that my 15 year old MGF just passed its MOT. Two advisories. The front discs are pitted - a penalty on a lightly used car that lives outdoors. Of more concern is that there is "light misting" on one of the rear shock absorbers. I have spend a few quid on the suspension over t...

Complete handbrake gaiter.
I cannot find a complete black handbrake gaiter for love nor money. I'm after the whole thing with the plastic base intact. Plenty of new parts which will need fixing to the base but that is a hell of a faff. Last time I got one for one of my Fs they were plentiful. Anyone got any links they can pos...
