Re: New Battery - FLAT

Due to medical problems (I had a op on my back), I wasn't able to look at it for awhile, it turned out to be the earth lead where it connects to the body, a good clean up and all seems to be well. When I took the battery out it was fully charged.

Re: MGF/TF 135 - 54/2004

Because my others cars are M.G.s other than a 2002 Volvo V70 T5 workhorse for towing, dog walking, going to the tip etc. that's worth diddly squat. And Im getting too old to get out and get under? This one is nearly finished

MGF/TF 135 - 54/2004

I would like to reduce the number of cars I have and have reluctantly decided to sell my 54/2004 MGF/TF 135 which my late wife mainly used. It is silver in colour and boasts the following, stainless steel exhaust, heated glass rear window, rear wind shield and quality hood protector. It has a good s...

Re: New Battery - FLAT

Yes I do take it for a decent spin a couple of times or more a week, especially if the weather is nice. Yes I do have the receipt. When my wife was alive she occasionally didn't use it for 10 days or more if we were away, by which time the battery wouldn't start it, the alarm etc running the battery...

New Battery - FLAT

Last June I brought a new battery for my late wife's MGF/TF 135, I give it a run a couple times a week. Yesterday it started normally and as I drove off down the road a warning light came on it was the Airbag SRS, then other warning lights came on, I couldn't tell which as I was negotiating a rounda...

Dicky dipstick

I went to check the oil in my car this morning and the dipstick was somewhat reluctant to come out. I gave it a tug and twisted it round and eventually it came out. However, it won't go back in. About 13" goes in but it comes across a solid feeling blockage. Any one any ideas. I thought that perhaps...

Nearside Outside Door Handle

The outside door handle has come adrift from it connection, (I can't open the door from outside) I cannot see how it is supposed to connect tp the catch, it is hidden behind the inner skin of the door, I don't what I am trying to find by feel alone. The Workshop Manual doesn't give a clear illustrat...

Kenwood Removal tools

My car has developed a rattle somewhere behind the radio. To access where the noise seems to be coming from, I need to remove the radio, the MG TF Workshop Manual says "Insert Kenwood removal tools into slots either side of head unit". What are these like and can anything else do the job. I don't wa...

Re: Boot Lid warning light

Well didn't do anything about it, so thought I'd try it and went out for a spin this morning and 200 yards up the road it went out and didn't come back on. Intermittent faults are such a b*****r to find.

Re: Boot Lid warning light

Thanks for that I'll look in the morning. I couldn't think of a reason why you shouldnt drive it but wondered if there was something awful that might happen. The boot lid shuts perfectly well, when it happened I stopped and checked, so I thought that it might be some common fault. Again many thanks,...

Boot Lid warning light

Fancied a little trot out in the sunshine this pm. Suddenly a warning light came on (Luggage compartment (RED)) Oh I thought that must mean that the boot lid is open, I stopped and opened and shut the boot lid and switched on again and the light came on again. When I checked the 'Owner's Handbook' i...

Re: Timing belt change intervals plus what else

Well my timing belt was changed today, by a charming chap from Worthing called Mike Stafford of MJS Auto and Marine, came to my house and did it in the drive for a reasonable sum. It took him just under 2 hours. This included adjusting my gear change which was a little loose. His number is 07956 575...

Re: ULEZ compliance

You can check if your car is eligible for a charge under ULEZ by logging on to tfl.gov.uk and then going to Check Your Vehicle and then by simply putting in your registration number. I've just checked my 2004 54 MGF/TF 135 and it is not liable for the charge.

Re: Timing belt change intervals plus what else

In the third posting above Keith says "For the MGF the belt change should come at 60,000 miles or 5 years which is ever soonest. For the MGTF, the belt change should come at 60,000 miles or 4 years which is ever soonest." thus I am amazed that some cars can go for so much longer in respect of time t...

Re: Timing belt change intervals plus what else

Don't know - it straightens up when you click to open the image though! Looks a 1930 vintage? I've got the alloy finishing strips to shape. Not looking forward to that - any tips? It's an early Oxford built car 1929 chassis 628, suicide doors and all that. My alloy strips came with the kit all I ha...

Re: Timing belt change intervals plus what else

I'm trying to complete an M type re-build, so time is tight, I've only been at it since 2011, I'm running out of years! Can anyone tell me of anyone near here, Camberley in NW Surrey who could do a good job and roughly what should it cost? That is change the timing belt, water pump and all the vario...
