Lumme - in light of the foregoing I shall fit 2 inertia switches in series and have a green LED to indicate a circuit.

Noises may be from the idle control stepper motor. What happens if you rig a temporary wire direct to the fuel pump? if it works on the bench it should work in situ.

If it's been wet just try WD40 in all the relevant sensors. Water in them (from floods maybe?) screws the readings. The ECT sensor - next to the top hose - effectively controls the "choke" - water in there says "engine hot" and no "choke" is applied - crank it for ever.

Did you ever manage to check the compressions? My old engine wouldn't run on 130psi and the replacement had 210 - 215 psi, so a huge difference. Maybe I'm missing something but if 1 bar is 14.5 psi then 130 psi on the tester is 8.9:1 compression ratio with no leaks - can't get much better than that...

Sounds just like mine - I had new track rod ends on today and 4-wheel alignment check - made no difference. I'm thinking of going to the ECU tomorrow to get some contact cleaner on all the joints. Maybe I have poor contacts on the "turn right" loom.
