Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

I know - it looks as though you could eat your dinner off it Ed!

Looking great: when is the exterior re-spray planned?

No idea whether this is the same David Farrar who owns an RV8 in Queensland, Australia? http://www.mgrv8.com/ownersdisplay.php

Re: David Farrar Prepared

Not sure why this is ringing a bell for me - keeping thinking about a former MGF Register committee member, but probably just a similar name?

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

Never tried NOS - might be fun in a FWD with a bit of torque steer! LOL ;)

ZS drive shafts would be the best bet for this sort of thing - they're equal length (with a support bearing for an intermediate shaft to the OSF IIRC...)

Re: Pre production MGF for sale on ebay

Hi Rob and David, I spoke too the seller at length about this car. He is a really nice guy and had no idea what the car was and consequently was surprised by the level of interest. I was really interested in buying it, but when I checked out the costs involved to do it properly, it just didn't add ...

Shame you're unable to use any of that "world leading" ribbon loom the car originally came with Ed ;) :)

Re: A long shot...

Try your local MGCC natter group - you never know! Otherwise car transporters/ trailer hire need not be too expensive.

Last time I borrowed a trailer it was from one of the chaps on the Caterham 7 forum, blatchat... but these guys tend to like trailering their cars to track days!

Steve White wrote:Its getting increasingly difficult to get some genuine parts these days.
From my experience, even if you buy a 'genuine' item from Xpart you can end up with a pattern part that's been stuck in an Xpart/MGR branded box.

That's worrying... :o :(

Re: Pre production MGF for sale on ebay

What happened to it? Hopefully it has found a home with an enthusiast :) I agree with you all in that for it to have the greatest value, it should be returned to its original specification. But that's another inside and out respray... not to mention everything else that'll need returning back to sta...

Lovely pictures!

Incidentally, spotted a TF and an MGF while on holiday in the Azores. A surprising number of MG Rovers still around. Plenty of 90s Land Rovers too. :thumbsu:

Re: ABS warning light

Welcome to the forum Johnny :) Sorry to hear of the ABS problem. Changing ensors on our cars is a real challenge (as I am sure you have already found). Assuming that the fuse is okay, then we presumably need to start looking elsewhere. The diagnostic tool I have (pscan.eu) can read the MGF/TF ABS EC...

First, welcome to the forum Colin! :D Second, sorry to hear that your local mechanics are being so unhelpful. :( This could be a number of things - and the risk at this stage is that you start replacing things without really getting to the route cause of the problem - which probably dates back to th...
